So you have a time machine in your possession. Knowing everything you do about your life and history in general... What do you do?
Lets say this is a ONE WAY TICKET. You can't come back, or use the machine more than once. You use it, you're stuck.
A) Go back to a point in your life where you can start over, but retain your current knowledge (still remember everything). B) Go back to any point in history you want to travel to, knowing a lot about the past, and using your knowledge to do whatever you want. C) Go to the future.

I need a clarification: Am I going back as myself and I can see the younger version of myself, interact with him, coach him.. OR am I going back in time in his body? Am I in effect becoming HIM?

I just notice its one way ticket
Normally i would have said B but i would love to visit the past, but i would not want to live in the past.
So i pick C.
I never understood people who when they are asked about traveling in time and they pick their own lifetime.

No, if you go back in time you can't see your formal self. You are now that age, but with what you know now.

A. I would pull a Biff Tannen and bet on sports. I would also make a fortune in the stock market.

No, if you go back in time you can't see your formal self. You are now that age, but with what you know now. So like in X-Men Day of Future Past when Wolverine went back in time, but basically his mind went back into his own younger self...
In that case, I'm not so sure I would go back in time to my own life. The thing is, you cant know that the information you have now will change anything at all. For all you know you could end up making things worse and fuck up the rest of your life even more. I'm not so sure I would risk that. All I can say for sure is that there are a few things I wouldn't do. But if I went back in time it would be to win the lottery or something like that.

I'd Biff Tannin it and go back a few decades to make myself rich.
Wouldn't go to the future because I'm worried I'd find an apocalyptic wasteland.

The future. Always the future. Better medication, better technology. OK you go to the future and there was a nuclear war that destroyed earth. You just took the time machine to your death.

You go to the past and encounter diseases, microorganisms, and parasites you're not immune to. You just took the time machine to your death.

I guess A and B are tempting, because I could leverage my future knowledge and make millions on the stock markets and such. For example I read that you could get 25-1 odds against Trump winning the election. You could make millions on that. C is tempting, but a gamble. I'd love to see a utopian future, like Star Trek or something, with cool stuff and space travel. But then, what if it's one of those crapsack futures where you arrive a week after World War III or something?
