This guy is the biggest liar in American Sports.
Let me tell you. First of all, he lied to the people of Gainesville and said he wanted to retire from coaching due to his health and spend more time with his family. He had reached the top of College Football, had no desire to coach in the NFL and due to his heart condition, step down at UF.
His young son was so excited, his dad was going to coach little league, his daughter posted on FaceBook back then, "We have our father back". etc...
One year later, he signs with Ohio State. ONE YEAR... not 5 years later. What kind of Sociopath lies about his HEALTH to get out of a coaching contract?
If he wanted to coach at the Buckeyes and leave UF, fine, the people in Gainesville would understand. Be a MAN and say, "Look, I love UF, but I grew up in Ohio, that's my dream job. I can't pass it up." Be a man, not a lying pu**y.
Then he hid things about Aaron Hernandez, and other UF players/staff.
Then he tried to throw UF under the bus after he left.
Now this at Ohio St. Then he claims he didn't know, now he claims he did know, but reported it in the proper procedure. He keeps changing his story. He knew his ex assistant coach beat the sh** out of his wife, he didn't care. He cares more about winning than he does the kids or his staff's safety.

A reminder of a slightly disturbing fact: in my lifetime, all Ohio State football coaches have gotten fired, or resigned under pressure. I won't like it if Urban Meyer gets that distinction, but I'm prepared.

Sounds legit. If this happened at a smaller school I wonder what the punishment would be.

I knew they wouldn't fire him, which like you imply, would have been automatic for practically every other coach. It's just hilarious that they called this an 'investigation.' You know damn well they spent the entire time trying to figure out an equation balancing the maximum amount of time he could miss without the entire season being a wash, while being long enough to quell outrage nationally as well as locally. A lesser coach gets fired as quickly as James Gunn while this administration did everything they could not to lose another big name coach to a scandal. Why didn't Meyer just fire this idiot immediately? Were your national title hopes hinging on WR coach Zach Smith?! Did you think the controversy around firing a wife-beater would be worse than keeping him? Not only an immoral and dangerous decision, a downright stupid one.

Urban Liar is a complete scumbag. He saw that the shit was about to hit the fan at Florida and lied about his health and wanting to spend time with his family to get an excuse to leave, but instead of spending time with his family he took a job at ESPN and the the OSU job, and then he lies through his teeth about this Zach Smith situation. It’s nauseating that he’s been allowed to keep his job.
And the reason he gave Zach Smith special treatment is because Smith’s grandfather is former Buckeyes coach Earl Bruce, whom Urban once coached for and who is royalty at OSU. That’s why he covered for him.

Most of the big programs probably care more about winning than doing the ethical/right thing.

It's interesting that it was 3 games (Oregon St, Rutgers, TCU), all at home, and he is back a game before the meat of their schedule starts when they go to Penn St.
