Just be glad they didn't do this when Fury Road was the flavor of the month. Not that the Oscars won by Crash, Chicago or Driving Miss Daisy were any more earned.
Does anyone really care about this? It's fun to bitch about I guess, but do you really care who wins an Oscar? If a lousy film wins, do you suddenly change your mind about it? Is an amazing performance negated or forgotten if there wasn't an Oscar attached to it? Of course not, so who really cares how many categories they add?

They added it so it and future blockbusters wouldn't be able to win Best Picture. It's the same copout as they did for Best Animated Film sixteen years ago.
