Ill say this... who's generally the wiser of the two? ; HINT: it's not the younger ones but it seems many at a real young age seem to not really notice that til they themselves start to age a little. p.s. with that said... I think it's probably common for the older generations to look down on the younger ones (especially those really young ones) because, at least from my perception of people, it's those in their 20's and younger (especially those around 25 and younger) tend to act like teenagers more often than not. so it's hard not to look down on many of them because of that (NOTE: those in the age brackets that I semi-dissed. don't worry about it too much as we are all quite young at some point and we all have made our mistakes in life ). ill be 39 in October but I have had this opinion for probably around a decade or so now especially with the basic opinion in that those around the age of 25 and younger are what I refer to as the teenager age bracket since that seems to be the way most of them act more often than not.

Depends on the topic. I'd wager a 20 year old is wiser when it comes to the inclusion of homosexuality and transgender than a 70 year old still clinging to how things were in his time.
People used to make fun of 60 and 70 year olds complaining about the younger generation and "In my day, things were better..."
But now, it's the 30 year olds doing the complaining. I find that quite hilarious.

its not about being wiser mslo79 but about accepting how times have changed and accepting how things USED TO BE. it took me YEARS to get through to my parents that wearing [respectable] jeans was allowed at my school. they would scream at me. this was 2004. I would rarely wear jeans but it was acceptable, especially the dark washed kind. and at my school where we had a lot of things going on and not a lot of bodily assistance we would often have to resort to mass recess [for the kids and prep periods for the classroom teachers] outside in the playground. OR often times I had to cover a pre kindergarten class {I would only know what to expect upon arriving at school and since I lived over an hour away going home to change was out of the question}. you cant do either in a skirt or a dress. I understand completely about office environments and especially if you MIGHT be dealing with bigwigs so wearing Hawaiian shirts and bermuda shorts will not be the BEST decision to make. you also have the confort of sitting at a desk, usually, being able to slip off your stilettos while you're at your desk, being able to just go to the loo in case of anything [you don't get that freedom working in a school] and have the central air/heating keeping you comfortable. there is also less tempra paint in an office! funny thing... I had a couple of hs teachers who would not only wear jeans on occasion [wore them to the parent teacher nights] but also the Hawaiian shirts. still, it never clicked with my parents. things back then were harder [no dishwashers/things like that] but they were simpler. no one had to worry about the wifi being down or the asshole neighbors tapping into our cable. we didn't have to worry about the computer systems going out and our credit cards not working. we had no electric house alarms to deter robbers but back then what could you really steal? the hifi system that took four workers to deliver and install? that cabinet tv that probably has a wonky vertical hold? the fur coat, MAYBE.

deembastilleYeah, I can see your point about dress styles etc but hell, even there some people are a little too off-the-rails as you can only be so 'different' before normal-ish range goes out the window with what people wear. but your parents actually had problem with students wearing jeans at a public school? ; I doubt many would have a issue with that here in the USA, especially in a public school. but I can see your point about teaches and other higher ups in school as they probably have to dress less casual to look professional etc. but yeah, I can see with the general technology thing that nowadays things are much different. hell, even from back in my high school days was mostly pre-internet/cell phone etc (as those never really went mainstream til about 1998-2000) as I can imagine things are noticeably different today in this regard as I would imagine schools in general are probably noticeably more tech oriented since I last knew in the late 1990's. How old are you? ; with those comments it sounds like your referring more towards my grandparent level of people or thereabouts because my parents are in their 60's and I know my grandma (who was born Nov 1918(she's still alive and is my only grandparent still alive)) did not have a washer/dryer etc and did a lot of stuff by hand in the old days (sounds like your mostly referring to people from roughly in that age bracket). but yeah, in the old days crime seemed to be much less from what I have heard to like you could trust people more in general but surely not for quite some time now (basically that trusting people more was definitely before my time as many have been shady for decades now). since it was before my time, I would guess roughly the 1970's is pretty much when things started going out the window in this regard. just some thoughts

Middle-aged women who watch Oprah are more sympathetic to the trannies than anyone.

No mslo79 the teachers. And I am 42 but am well versed in history. And even in the 50s not everyone had all the "modern conveniences of the day.
