This is how this thread will work.
Name one thing you liked about the MCU which you think deserves praise (pro). Then name one thing you hated about the MCU which you think deserves criticism (con). They need to always be done in pairs. You can post multiple points you liked/disliked as long as they come in pairs, one pro and one con.
Try to make sure that the pro and con points you pair up are roughly equal in importance/weight to you. The objective is that the pros and cons should roughly cancel each other out. So don't make a pair that's completely skewed like for example:
Pro: The MCU has slightly decent music Con: The MCU have ridiculously bad plots
or maybe something skewed the other way like:
Pro: The MCU have the greatest casting ever Con: Black Widow's hair color in IW is somewhat weird
You can't post about something you really liked unless you can pair it with something you really hated and vice versa. If you post something you only slightly disliked then you need to match it with something you only slightly liked as well. Hope you get the point.
Anyway, let me start.
Pro: The MCU (usually) has great fight choreography Con: The MCU (usually) have horrible female costumes
Pro: The MCU lucked-out with Hiddleston as Loki, making movie Loki way more interesting and likeable than comic Loki. Con: Scarlet Johansson is pretty miscast as Black Widow, who ended up making the character way more boring than it should be.

So, this is the Thanos all things in balance thread. 😄
Pro: The MCU has played the long game really well, telling individual stories that connect in the larger scheme.
Con: The MCU has a habit of killing its antagonists too soon.

Pro: They've built an amazingly well connected world spanning 20 films featuring all manner of storylines from magic to political thriller and even space operas.
Con: I know it's difficult, but they've done a poor job connecting their tv universe to the films. Just one mention of Daredevil or Luke Cage in a film, it's all I ask. Or vice versa. Luke Cage is plastered all over youtube punching through walls and whatnot, and nobody comes knocking about the Sokovia Accords.

Pros: The MCU aren't afraid to recreate the strangest imagery.
Cons: For a long time, they had really bad cinematography. Infinity War and their 2017 slate were a step in the right direction.

Pros: The costume designs. They're amongst the best and !oat accurate looking.
Cons: The fact that beside The Avengers theme none of them really have memorable themes in the same way we have for Batman, Superman, Spider-man and now even Wonder Woman.

Agents of SHIELD was pretty good with it but it was a one way relationship. Movie characters were regularly featured in AOS, like Maria Hill, Sif, Agent Sitwell, even Nick Fury one time IIRC. Plus their storylines mingle pretty closely with the MCU movies like with the Hydra reveal in TWS and the alien invasion in Avengers. But... the AOS characters never get featured in an MCU movie, don't even get acknowledged or mentioned I believe. They could have at least featured Quake in one of the MCU movies by now. Surely someone that strong deserved to be on the Avenger's radar especially with how much news coverage she seems to get. And surely the Avengers should have been kinda involved in the whole "inhumans populating through earth" storyline.

Cons: The fact that beside The Avengers theme none of them really have memorable themes in the same way we have for Batman, Superman, Spider-man and now even Wonder Woman. Having recently rewatched a bunch of the origin story movies I developed a new appreciation for some of the character themes... Few are truly memorable, but most are decent. The real problem, I think, is that they abandon them in the sequels every time. The Guardians, for example, have a great theme in the first movie... But you don't hear a note of it in the sequel!

Pro: Most of the heroes are well-fleshed-out characters. Con: Most of the villains aren't all that memorable. Maybe not Jack Nicholson in Batman '89-level memorable, but LEGIT. I think they get sort of shafted on that villains business. I mean, they've done some major antagonists. If anything I would've liked more Red Skull over the long arc of the movies, and of course more Dormammu -- but that's prolly just me.

Because your beloved heroes all lived to fight another day? ... ... Well -- well, except when... If I knew it was over for all time I would be very very relieved. If you could ensure there was never another MCU movie or another Disney Wars movie, which would you end? I'd put a stop to anything with the title "Star Wars" forever without even batting an eye, personally. And then confiscate and burn every copy of every Disney Wars movie en masse while people dance around the fire singing Yub Nub!

I think the brand has been dead since the prequels. Marvel still have potential, but not with Disney.

Good thread skaather, cant believe this hasnt been done before.
1 pro: The world building and interconnectivity is very well done
1 con: At the same time, this interconnectivity results in some films feeling like fillers and being rather unmemorable

Pros: It managed to make he superhero genre extremely popular again after the disappointing superhero movies from 2006-2007. The world building has resulted in making Infinity War a movie which would've been seen as impossible ten years ago. Cons: They have got to start giving each character their own definitive theme song. As really the only theme songs that sticks throughout the MCU are Thor, The Avengers and GOTG.
