WORLDS TO EXPLORE: CLASSIC TALES OF TRAVEL AND ADVENTURE FROM NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC
Yes I know it's a mouthful. It's a dense read but thoroughly enjoyable. From the Arctic to the Amazon and from the Himalayas to the Sahara, excerpts from different travel writers, explorers, adventurers, and one former U.S. president are compiled together.

thanks, might take you up on that. I've got the Big Book of Adventure Stories that I haven't cracked open yet.

A good chunk of them I hadn't heard of and wish now they had their own film adaptation. This book is where I first heard of Leonard Clark.
