I've mixed feelings about Fuqua. I really dug Training Day and liked his remake of Magnificent Seven okay. But I didn't much care for Tears of the Sun and I really loathed his King Arthur crapfest. Wonder what he'd direct anyway?

Probably something with Denzel as the lead.

I'm more excited about this news than if you'd have said it was F. Gary Gray or Tim Story. Fuqua at least has a voice and visual style.

Fuqua's an adequate director for hire, he's as only good as the scripts he's working from however but under the right guidance and with a solid screenplay he can deliver a pretty solid movie.

You know I'd actually be interested to see how Tim Story would do under Kevin Feige and the rest of Marvel Studios on a proper Marvel feature. His Fantastic Four movies were made at a time when the sheer thought of replicating a Jack Kirby visual on film was crazy talk and they were heavily micromanaged by Fox. Going by some interviews and social media postings he seems like a genuine fan of the Marvel universe, unlike, say, the later director of the last Fantastic Four reboot Josh Trank.

I really find it difficult to excuse or forgive Story for gaseous-cloud Galactus. It's the biggest fail in the history of modern CBMs. That said, what does he care? I read somewhere that he is worth over a billion dollars.

I'm sure there is plenty of blame to go around for how Fantastic Four 2 turned out but, it's his name on the film at the end of the day. I think he should have fought harder to remove Galactus as the antagonist altogether or represent him accurately. I'll never forget how my heart sank as the end of the movie was fast approaching and it was becoming more apparent that they'd not even tried to get the character right.

"Just shut up and make the movie."

I would not have signed my name to that film if that was the plan from jump. I would have Alan Smithee'd it for sure. I'll put it to you this way, it may not have been Story's fault but, I don't think he's entitled to a fall pardon. As DC-Fan likes to say, he's an accessory after the fact --- or whatever. I'm not going to let this go until that day we do see Galactus in all of his 30' tall purple-hat glory on the big screen.

Fan speculation is the following: Blade reboot Eternals Nova Moon Knight Training Day was a badass movie. I'd like to see Moon Knight done in that vein -- basically the way the Affleck Daredevil flick should've been done: super dark and broody, violent AF, and bloody/gritty. Would love to see the MCU launch something like a "Marvel Knights" line of R-rated stuff like this, though I know it'll never happen.

Would love to see the MCU launch something like a "Marvel Knights" line of R-rated stuff like this, though I know it'll never happen. I'm hoping it's a Black Panther prequel set in 1990s Oakland. That franchise was built to jump the MCU timeline like a boss. Fuqua could turn that premise into Shakespeare. Moon Knight is tricky. I see a clear delineation between the old Moon Knight who is a Batman analog and the new Moon Knight who is the psychotic Fist of Khonshu. Both are cool but, one gets a lot more mileage than the other for originality. As much as I appreciate the old Moon Knight, the new Moon Knight is a thing of beauty; sleek, brutal and entirely out of his mind. He isn't sure of who he really is or if his lunar boss, Khonshu even exists. Modern Moon Knight is a portrait of a superhero in complete mental free fall. He is a man or men who are the thrall(s) of an ancient Egyptian lunar deity whose motives and plan are nearly as nefarious as those of the ones he sends his enforcer to brutalize. There is so much to mine here. Moon Knight needs a high-concept treatment and execution that turns the notion of being a superhero on its head. I see it as being very similar to the Grant Morrison treatment of Adam Strange. "Am I being spirited away to another planet by a mysterious Zeta Beam where I am a god who is feared by men and adored by women or, is it all happening in my damaged mind?"

I don't think there is a good way to fight for something like that unless you have clout or the studio trusts you to make a good product. Story was still pretty new and the 1st F4 wasn't an overwhelming success. They would have kept making the movies because they had to keep the rights.
Oh we will see a right Galactus. They showed the celestials. I think when we got that Galactus we were still in the age of the studios not getting it. And thinking that the audience wouldn't get it. Hell, we had people like Bryan Singer actually saying that you can't show Apocalypse growing big in the "real world" because it would look silly. And that was when he was making Apocalypse. The best Galactus we've had so far was Unicron back in Transformers: The Movie.
