If it makes you feel less lonely I'm spending the evening watching "It came from beneath the sea". I'm rooting for the giant octopus btw. Thanks, m’friend. Enjoy it! Who wants to bet the giant octopus doesn’t celebrate Valentine’s Day? Smart cephalopod.

What an awful movie. It’s a dumb movie pretending to be smart, but its philosophy isn’t any more complicated than Thanos’s in the last MCU movie. And it’s all grim and disgusting, boring for long stretches, unsurprising, and just dumb. Have I mentioned dumb? Yuck. Agree 100%. I paid $1.50 for the DVD and feel like I was cheated. Everything that's wrong with movies today.

Nalkarj Looking forward to your inevitable review of the Ant Man movies! Despite what our mutual friend says I do actually like these movies. I just think they're too light on character development and rely too heavily on generic humor. They feel more like mainstream action comedies rather than superhero movies. And that can be grating. The superficial aspects are fun though such as the character's powers and the creative use of shrinking/growing. Certain hardcore MCU fans may jump on me for not loving these movies, but the fact is 99% of fans will tell you that the Ant Man series is the most superfluous and disposable set of films of the saga. It's not an extreme opinion.

Would it be inexplicable to those not in the loop here if I said you made the right decision?

So, nothing to do with the MCU, but that hasn’t stopped me before:
I tried watching Star Trek: The Motion Picture. It started off OK, but I got bored about halfway through and turned it off. Should I stick with it? Are the sequels any better?

I'd start with Goldfinger if I was you - give Dr. No and From Russia With Love a miss.

As for 007, you’ll probably be unsurprised to learn that I far prefer Dr. No and From Russia with Love (my favorite of the books and of the movies) to Goldfinger.

Definitely not as surprising as you having watched them. Did someone tell you Robert Donat was playing James Bond?

Now that I think of it, though, you probably can’t, as that would require a sense of humor. It does warm my heart to know that, despite your remarkable ignorance, you found out who Robert Donat is—all just to make fun of me! What a good little boy are you!

Humor, you know, is usually a good quality to possess if you wish to be sarcastic. I didn't have to find anything out, bro. Unlike you, I actually watch all kinds of movies. Now run along, get a nice soft cushion for your butt and watch The Wrath of Khan.

As I’m here and have watched several of these movies, I’ve proven what I’ve seen; maybe you can list a few of your favorite underrated classics. What’s your opinion on Lubitsch’s use of counterpoint in Trouble in Paradise, for example? Gary Cooper’s casting in Design for Living? The distinction between gallantry and chivalry in Hawks and Ford, respectively?

Just give me a couple of hours and I'll get back to you.

But I’ll take your response as “Salzmank called me on my bluff.” Good to know.

May I randomly suggest Predestination. I may have a overtly fondness for it as my Favorite Philosophy Professor had us read the short story it was based on back in the day.
