The most famous tan in the movie business turns 79 today. George Hamilton was born in Memphis, Tennessee on August 12, 1939. He earned plaudits for his work in 'Crime & Punishment' (1959), based on a novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky, and was predicted to have a big career in Hollywood. He starred as country music legend Hank Williams in 'Your Cheatin' Heart' (1964) and motorcycle daredevil Evil Knievil in the biopic 'Evil Knievil' (1971).
"Basically, I'm a shy human being. Very introverted."

A much maligned actor and person. I liked his work in The Victors, especially his expression as he watches a fellow GI being executed.

Some quality movies right there! I've been meaning to rewatch 'Doc Hollywood'. Never seen 'Once Upon A Crime' but it sounds like a pleasure. Gonna look up a couple more titles I've not heard of, like 'Meet Sally Sparks'/.

And he does add a certain class to those Crispy Colonel commercials. The Colonel has never looked so tanned! It's like he's been deep-fried himself!

George Hamilton can be confused as being "stiff", but I always thought he worked well in comedies. Love At First Bite is very funny, and Zorro: The Gay Blade is a movie I'm surprised by how I enjoyed. Also I really liked that one episode of Columbo he was on, I'll add.
The first thing I ever saw Hamilton was his part in The Godfather Part III. A bit weird to see him in that film in retrospect.

plasma Caution: Murder Can Be Hazardous to Your Health (1991) Twas one of the few Columbo episodes where I saw two of the mistakes the killer made before Columbo showed them to me and I knew that they would be his downfall.. poor George ! . Lt. Columbo investigates a self-proclaimed security expert turned crime show host for the murder of a rival with incriminating evidence of pornography.
He was also in A Deadly State of Mind (1975) A psychiatrist, who specializes in hypnosis, murders the husband of his mistress and convinces her to lie to the police; it's up to Lt. Columbo to discover the truth.

I liked the Columbo where he gets tricked by the brother of the blind man.
And he did kick Charles Bronson's ass.
