Did everyone see the movie "Creed" (2015) ? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creed_(film)Adonis "Donnie" Johnson took over as the lead character in the "Rocky" Franchise... I greatly enjoyed the film as well, and I am looking forward to "Creed II"... The torch was passed from Rocky to Adonis... That's all that I am proposing here... Just create a new lead character. What is wrong with that? "Jasmine White 008" can still receive her missions from 'M'... 'Q' can still issue her all of the gadgets... and we can still go to exotic locations... and have fantastic villains... and watch big explosions! WHY CAN'T "Idris Elba 006" Films & "Jasmine White 008" films WORK?... If they were to be made, I would still want to go see them. What is so fucking special about "James Bond" that he... has to be... turned into a black man... as being the only option for the franchise to continue? To be honest, I think the character is outdated, and it's time for him to be replaced. |

I don't give a fuck how long who's been playing what. It's a fictional character. If you have a problem with his skin color, you're a goddam racist. I didn't say I had a problem with anyone's skin color. I said I want to keep characters that are established that way. Why not create new characters for black actors? That's all. You seem triggered. I don't think you're racist for your POV, but IMO, it's more important they keep Bond Britsh as opposed to white as far as character consistency. That said, I'm not a die-hard Bond fan though. Brosnan was my favorite Bond and I've been told before that disqualifies me from having an opinion, lol. |

Spider-Man has already been black in the comics, but he is not Peter Parker.This is where the solution lies... Why is there no Spider-WOMAN? (Was there ever one?)... Why isn't anyone doing a "She Hulk" movie?... How about "Iron Woman"? People keep forgetting that James Bond is... "007"... What happened to "001" through "006"? How about "008"?Quit trying to change famous existing characters in to a different sex or have them change skin color... It's retarded SJW thinking! Retire the James Bond character, and create a new set of films featuring "Jasmine White 008", set in the Bond universe... That way you don't piss off long time fans... and then you have the freedom to create something from scratch, and can get rid of personality traits that are outdated, like: Bond sexually harassing women... I won't watch a movie with Idris Elba as "James Bond 007". I just won't be able to accept that kind of change, to a long established character... (He's ALWAYS been white!) But, if they hire him to play a new Double-0 character, I will watch those movies. I see NO reason why they can NOT be just as good. Just pass the torch from the old character to the new one, and let's move on! There is a Spider-Woman tho. She was a very prominent figure during the New Avengers and especially during the Skrull Invasion. Ill assume they may eventually get to these storylines if the MCU movies continue doing well for years. |

To help the minority children connect with superheroes. I went to a seminar at New York historical society about this very subject (why there aren't many successful minority superhero characters) and the rwasywqs the minority children asked said they would probably not even bother to read them because the character is a minority. So blame the minority kids who were asked. Then don't read them. They can read and connect with tons of other things. I barely read any comics growing up. I have only read a handful of 'graphic novels'. Are kids required to 'connect' with a superhero? Isn't Lebron James enough? Or Barack Obama? Or Beyonce?
Have a writer sit down and create a black character and then put it out for publication and then let the readers decide. It's called 'work'. It's what Stan Lee did years and years ago. He worked. He created.
I see what you are saying but if all Hollywood can do is take an established white character and make him black, that is the opposite of creativity.

I don't have a problem with Elba being 007 at all. My only issue comes from the fact that I think there are other candidates that would do a better job.
If Elba got the job, though, I think he could do pretty well. Maybe even better than Craig.

A good question but there wasn't an advocate group out there shaming you, seeking to destroy you, calling you racist (or any other kind of '-ist' or '-phobe') unless you accepted a blonde Bond.
The problem is whenever liberals get their way on things like this, and they almost always do so you can relax, they end up giving you a few choices. See? Liberals really are fair people.
You can choose to watch the new black Bond and love the film and especially him, celebrating him as the greatest actor ever and further proof of black supremacy. That's not what they hope you feel, it's what they demand you feel. (remember how they threw a fit when ONE critic dared to give Black Panther 3/5, ruining its 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes?)
You can choose to watch the new black Bond and not like the film or him. You are now a racist and open yourself up to violence if liberals find out where you live and work.

I'm on board with Idris Elba as 007 but he might be the only black actor that I know that I can see it pull it off really well. Some have suggested Daniel Kaluuya and I just don't see it.

The only other valid options are Tom Hiddlestone and Tom Hardy. Hiddelstone is too girly looking in my opinion and Hardy is too short. Elba is perfect height and build to be physically imposing and also has the manly, rugged yet suave look to pull off Bond.
Of course there is also Christian Bale, who would be my dream no.1 pick! |

I have no issue with a black actor being cast as James Bond, if they think he would be good in the part.
I'm not convinced Idris Elba would be good in the part, though. I like him as an actor, but he always comes across as a bit of a thug to me. He's a big guy, well built, and his way of moving just looks like he's a wrestler or something. The idea of Bond is that he's supposed to be very physically capable, but also capable of blending in in places where the rich elites hang out. I find it hard to believe that Elba could do that very convincingly.
Also, the guy is 45. It's a bit on the old side to play Bond, who I always thought should be in his 30s at most.
Still, if they think he would do a good job, give him a go. Worst that would happen is we get another one-off like Lazenby.

I love this idea, honestly. Elba would make an awesome Bond and the franchise needs a little change. To me it has gotten a little stale. The movies are very well done, they just are forgettable to me now.
