Caught this one on Netflix last night. Found it kind of boring to be honest.
Thoughts?

You really just dissed Orson Welles? Well, you might get away with it since you didn't post this on Classic Film.

Caught this one on Netflix last night. Found it kind of boring to be honest. Thoughts? I watched it on Netflix a few nights ago as well. I didn't like the 1st half too much, was ready to give it a 6/10, but the 2nd half was better, so I gave it a 7/10 overall.

I agree..kind of boring. Restrained, well done, but I've watched it at least 3x and never found it particularly 'thrilling'. 6/10

I remember liking it. It had a great cast and a heart-racing climax. It is also the first Hollywood film to use footage of the concentration camps after World War II, which was used effectively. My only problems relate with Orson Welles's character Rankin in how he draws a swastika in the wrong direction and has hidden in his German accent in a short amount of time.

Needs a rewatch, but I really liked it the first time I saw it.

Just rewatched a lot of Welles, including this one, decent, but not his best. A little lacklustre as others have pointed out.

I've seen it several times over the years and still enjoy it. (Orson Welles and Edward G. Robinson in the same picture?). I do believe how Robinson deduces that Welles is a fugitive Nazi quite weak: a chance phrase from a conversation rather than the entire Master Race rant itself. Also when Loretta Young has her nervous breakdown her twitchy acting is embarrassing and unconvincing. And did college kids really dress, talk and act that way back then? I know the movie is not much admired so rather than defend it I'm content to consider it a guilty pleasure.
