I read that Francis Ford Coppola recut "The Godfather" and "The Godfather: Part II" in chronological order and made it like a mini series for TV.
Did anyone ever see that cut?
If so, was it good? I don't know how I feel about that because what made Part II so great was the contrast in young Vito starting out poor and creating an empire for the Italian people and emphasis on his family while Michael is destroying the empire and putting emphasis on business partners and not his family.

I've seen it. It's fine. It really doesn't change anything it just puts all the scenes in chronological order instead of using flashbacks.

I saw it. It's my preferred way to watch the two films. There are also a few small scenes added in.
The don, capos, and sons visit Genco on his deathbed
A tour of an olive oil mill in Sicily
A short scene of a young girl at Woltz's mansion (Infamia!)

This is commonly known as The Godfather Saga. Aside from editing the first two movies in chronological order, it does add scenes which were not included in the original theatrical versions.
The Godfather Saga was also released on VHS in the 80s, with the one difference being that all the R-rated material cut out for TV has been included. To my knowledge this version was never put out on DVD/blu ray.
My preference is to watch all Godfather films separately.

Yes. It's good, but theatrical is my preferred cut.
