I'm about to read my first book by her, The Beautiful Mystery. Does she have any fans here?

I just finished the first two books in her Inspector Gamache series and I'm now a fan. I prefer to read series in the order that they are written, I think The Beautiful Mystery is book #7 in the series. I am waiting for book #3, The Cruelest Month from Amazon. If you like The Beautiful mystery, I would go back and start at the beginning if I were you because they are all connected.

I tried Still Life and it just wasn't for me.

I’ve only read A Rule Against Murder (The Murder Stone outside of the U.S.). It was decent, but not much more than that, I felt. The solution to the semi-impossible crime was pretty good, though—but I think Penny’s series should probably be read in order, as there were elements I’m sure I missed out on.

I'm not going to worry about reading them in order, as I already sense that this is the only one I'll bother reading. I'm only on the third chapter but I'm not overly impressed. She does something I can't tolerate in writers, which is describe the food they're eating.
She leaned toward him, her elbows and forearms resting on the croissant flakes on the pine table, and took his hand.
"Yes," she agreed, letting go of his hand to take a sip of café au lait.
I hate that kind of nonsense.
