Three-part question:
How far do you live from--
(1) A sit-down/table-service, non-chain restaurant? (2) A fast food chain restaurant? (3) A sandwich/deli/take-out place that's not a chain restaurant?

(1) I live above a non-chain, sit-down restaurant. It's a pretty popular cafe-style place. So all I have to do is walk down the stairs from my apartment. And then right across the street from me is a popular Indian restaurant, and on the same block, more or less right across from me as well, is another cafe restaurant and a small Middle Eastern place. There are more restaurants just a block away in both directions, too. I'm on a street that has multiple restaurants every block pretty much, although in the one direction it becomes more brownstones without restaurants after a few blocks. Overall, though, there are tens of choices in my neighborhood.
(2) Two blocks down is both a Dunkin Donuts and a McDonald's. There's also a Starbucks three blocks from me, a Krispy Kreme right across the street from that, a Two Boots Pizza four blocks from me, etc. There aren't a ton of chains right by me, but there are some. One weird thing about the New York City area, though is that some chains are a bit of a haul--there aren't a ton of outlets for some of them, and with so many non-chain, local choices, I don't get to them very often. Wendy's, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, etc. aren't really that convenient for me. I can get to them, but there are literally hundreds of choices for me within the distance of those places. I have a White Castle not too far from me, but it's not really a convenient walk. It's maybe two or two and a half miles from me.
(3) I've got a deli two blocks from me, on my street. It's part of a local pizza place now. They used to be across the street from the pizza place, but the rent kept going up and they and the pizza place decided to merge. That's both the pizza place and deli I go to most often.

pretty much about 2.5 miles give or take.
but as far as major chain/fast food goes... putting aside Subway, that would change to about 4.5-5 miles (maybe a little less) of which there is a Taco Bell/McDonalds/Wendy's all pretty close to each other as the McDonalds/Wendy's are pretty much on opposite sides of the road with the Taco Bell being about 1/4th of a mile from those two.

A long time ago I used to live above a pizza restaurant. Could always smell the aroma of pizza, and I didn't mind at all.

Three-part question: How far do you live from-- (1) A sit-down/table-service, non-chain restaurant? (2) A fast food chain restaurant? (3) A sandwich/deli/take-out place that's not a chain restaurant? 1.A non-chain restaurant is just 2 mins walk from my house. We have Thai, Chinese, Indian and Vietnamese restaurants within 5 mins
2. Nandos is like 2 mins and KFC is like 5 mins. Hungry Jacks (Australian version of Burger King) is 6 minutes away from my house. 3. A simple cafeteria style sandwich selling kind of place is 2 mins away from my house.
I live in a very good suburb in Melbourne and literally every comfort is available within 5 mins walking distance.
*Good as in assessable and not posh. My suburb is not posh but it is not cheap either. Very multicultural as lots of Aussie whites, Chinese, Thai, Indian and Blacks live here. It is also very safe. Tram line 86 is within 2 mins from my house.

(1) A sit-down/table-service, non-chain restaurant?
3 blocks walk, so maybe 600 yds. to the closest one. Then my local town has about 25 independent restaurants/bars.
(2) A fast food chain restaurant?
Same, 3 blocks walk to a Taco Bell. Then the next closest is a Wendy's about a half mile away.
(3) A sandwich/deli/take-out place that's not a chain restaurant?
Same, 3 blocks walk. We have about 20 of those types of places - including pizza, sandwich shops, coffee shops, etc.

(1) There are several within a five-minute walk radius - most but by no means all of them Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese). (2) Burger King, A&W, Subway, McDonald's, Tim Hortons within less than a ten-minute walk.
(3) Not really sure.

Yes! But I've only been there once. There's another Indian restaurant a few blocks away that I like better. Dude, there was a restaurant near where I grew up that looked almost exactly like that! Only it had two teepees. It was called Twin Teepees. Sadly it burnt down fifteen or so years ago.

1) There are Caribbean food and Chinese restaurants less than a mile away from where I live.
2) Wendy's is just up the street from where I live. Less than a mile away, there are Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, Papa John's, Dominoes Pizza, and Burger King.
3) I don't know any non-Chain subs/deli shops. The last time I've been to one was when it used to be located right next to my elementary school in the 90s.
