In the comics, Peter Parker let a thief get away and that thief later killed Uncle Ben. That incident taught Peter that he had a "great responsibility" and motivated Peter to be a superhero.
In SMH, MCU changed Peter's motivation for being a superhero. Instead of being a superhero because he has a "great responsibility", SMH Peter is nothing more than a show-off whose only motivation for being a hero is to try to impress an egotistical billionaire. MCU fans claim that Peter cared about his community. But Peter stole from his community, which shows that Peter clearly didn't give a shit about his community.
Last Friday, MCU fans wanted to know when in SMH did Peter steal from his community. Since MCU fans are often slow at getting things, I put it on my To Do list to write up a detailed explanation. But one MCU fan kept calling for an immediate answer so the thread got locked and I couldn't post my detailed explanation there today.
That MCU fan who kept calling for an immediate answer reminds me of an asshole I used to know at work. One day, the asshole at work sent me an e-mail asking for help with some shit he was working on. He sent me the e-mail at 11:45 AM. I was trying to finish up another task that I was working on so I was planning to help him after I finished my current task. I finished my current task a half hour later around 12:15 PM. I checked my calendar and saw that I had a meeting from 1 PM to 3 PM. So I decided to go to the cafeteria and grab a quick lunch before heading to the meeting. The meeting ended early so I got back to my desk around 2:45 PM. I saw in my Inbox that the asshole had sent an e-mail to my manager and copied me on it and his e-mail said that I wasn't responding to his request for help.
If the asshole had checked my calendar, he could've seen that I was in a meeting for 2 hours. I don't sit in front of my desk all day just waiting for that asshole's e-mail so I can respond to it. Likewise, I'm often very busy and don't sit in front of my computer all day just waiting for questions from MCU fans so I can respond to them. Moreover, when I do have time to post on IMDb2, I also post on several other boards on IMDb2 and not just on the MCU or DECU boards.
Anyway, like I said above, one MCU fan kept calling for an immediate answer so the thread got locked and I couldn't post my detailed explanation there today. So I started this new thread to post my detailed explanation of Peter stealing from his community in SMH.
Peter had quit the Academic Decathlon Team. But then Peter finds out that the school is sending the Academic Decathlon Team to Washington, D.C. to represent the school in a competition. So Peter re-joined the Academic Decathlon Team so that he could travel with the team to Washington, D.C. to represent the school in the competition. So the school paid for Peter to travel to Washington, D.C. to represent the school in the competition. Now if Peter had showed up for the competition, then it wouldn't be stealing since Peter would've done what he was supposed to do for the school during the trip.
Only Peter never showed up for the competition. So Peter re-joined the Academic Decathlon Team to get the school to pay for him to travel to Washington, D.C. but instead of doing what he was supposed to do for the school during the trip, Peter skips the competition and does his own personal things on the trip. So Peter stole from the school.
Now one MCU fan claimed that was ridiculous and wasn't stealing, but it is indeed stealing. It's no different than if a company paid for a group of employees to travel to Las Vegas to make a business presentation to a customer or potential investor. If 1 of the employees travels to Vegas but doesn't even show up for the presentation and instead spends the entire time shopping, sightseeing, gambling, and doing his own personal things, then he basically stole from the company. Because the company paid for him to travel to Vegas so he could represent the company and make a presentation for the company and not so he could do his own personal things on the trip.
Likewise, the school paid for Peter to travel to Washington, D.C. so Peter could represent the school in the competition and not so Peter could run off and do his own personal things and skip the competition. The money for Peter's trip to Washington, D.C. comes out of the school's budget. So because the school paid for Peter to travel to Washington, D.C., the school might not be able to afford a new microscope for Chemistry lab or a new computer for the school library.
So the school and the students suffer because Peter stole from the school. And since the school is funded by local taxes, stealing from the school is the same as stealing from the community. So Peter clearly didn't give a shit about his community or about the fact that the school and the students will suffer because he stole from his community.
One last note: This is the MCU board and this thread is about an MCU character in an MCU movie. So MCU fans, try not to turn this into another MCU vs non-MCU thread. Try to keep this discussion about Peter stealing from his community strictly within MCU movies.
