Seems Disney isn't moving an inch to consider bringing back James Gunn. I heard someone float the idea if no director is found, it should turn into the next Thor movie. Ideally, Gunn should return. If he can't, give David Lynch a call.

The universe might implode if a Marvel property were handed over to David Lynch. Although it totally might be worth it.

In my opinion... I think certain kinds of movies, especially super hero ones, the director tends not to influence the overall quality of the movie too much like they can with other genres.
so basically... any competent director will work and the movie will still make a ton of $$$ like damn near all super hero movies do, especially ones that are already established as solid $ makers.

Lynch is a washed up hack. It's possible. I haven't seen or heard from him since Mulholland Drive.
I'll say this for him: a) he made me genuinely invested in the outcome of a Nicholas Cage outing in Wild at Heart, and b) his style is so distinct that even his bad stuff is uniquely David Lynch.
He does seem to have a washed up face though. No matter the time of day.

The industry is very cutthroat and living in California especially Los Angeles is very expensive millions are all job hunting for whatever role they can serve on a production. I'm not only talking about the actors and producers here but the designers, graphic artists, sound mixers, painters, costume designers, lighting technicians, etc. |

Lynch has been very active since the release of Mulholland Drive, he's written and directed several features and shorts, relaunched his series Twin Peaks for Showtime, and he's also been acting too - On Twin Peaks and also did a recurring voice over role for The Cleveland Show. That said, David Lynch's daughter Jennifer *has* directed for the MCU before - She has helmed episodes of Agents of SHIELD and Jessica Jones. |
