Aw, that's not nice. To each their own.
Not that I'm in any hurry to sit through it again.

I always found it pretty boring myself, although I was 15 I think when I last saw it. People say it's one of those movies you need to see in a theater, which I always thought was a copout excuse until I saw Dunkirk and Gravity, so I'm pretty pumped to go and give it a second (er...fourth) chance. Either way, it's a visually stunning movie with great music, so it'll be cool to see in imax.
I'm just waiting to see if it'll be playing at the real imax theater in town or if I have to settle for lie-max.

The kind of film I'll probably buy on blu ray and never watch. (Close Encounters of the Third Kind says hello)

Honestly I think people just like to say how amazing a movie they think it is just to see who will get annoyed.

The theatrical release for its 50th anniversary was announced months ago and I have waited with baited breath. Because I couldn't wait any longer, I got the DVD and saw it at home two weeks ago. Just as amazing, fascinating, moving, inspiring, and shocking as it ever was. I was, as usual, spellbound.
Just today the announcement appeared the local paper that it can be seen at the IMAX theater this week. I just may see it again. It has been 50 years since I saw it on a movie screen in a theater. Everybody go. One of the great all time masterworks of filmdom.

Honestly I think people just like to say how amazing a movie they think it is just to see who will get annoyed. It is the opposite. It is the people who disparage the film who are the trolls just trying to stir up trouble. It won't work with me, however - although I do roll my eyes when I read vague meaningless terms like "boring" or - I sure this will show up sooner or later - "sucks." I can easily dismiss all such childish name-calling.

They should put Planet of the Apes back in theaters.

Personal incredulity is strong a fallacy.

Yeah, that's it. That's the ticket.

I would love to see 2001 on the big screen. One of the greatest films ever made.

I liked that movie up until the end when Keir Dullea (Dave Bowman) basically went on that bad acid trip.

I would probably enjoy seeing it on the big screen but it's definitely not in my top 5 Kubrick films. I agree with anthonyrocks on the film. Basically the special effects guy came up to Kubrick and said check this out and Kubrick must have said, well, let's see if we can fit this into the film somehow... LOL

Slow moving, yes. Boring, no. Was lucky enough to catch it on the big screen in the 90s.

moviebuffbradBecause it is in my mind. at home or movie theaters will not influence my overall judgement of a movie much either way. if a movie is good, it will be good in the theaters or at home. if it's crap, it's always going to be crap, theater or not. sure, I can maybe see some movies having a little extra spark in a theater vs at home on some level but it's not going to change my overall opinion of a movie. at least nothing from a overall negative opinion to a positive opinion. That's the thing for me... not all visually solid movies end up being enjoyable movies overall. like movies that mostly rely on visuals there seems to be a thin line between solid and crap. in this movies case, it's pretty much crap as I gave it a 4/10 (below average). basically more visually oriented movies seem to be more dividing in general from what I can tell as, apparently, some like 2001 (1968) a lot but it's not that difficult to find people who think it's pretty much crap to even though I think some hesitate to say it because they fear backlash from the film snobs who seem to think that's one of those movies that you must praise etc.
