CoolJGS☺ and moviemouth: The scene was about JOAN getting angry about something normal people don't get angry about. The book that MOMMIE DEAREST is based on has been accused by some of being untrue, but nobody knows for sure. I am surprised no one has mentioned Groundhog Day. It was the same everyday situation everyday, that was totally and utterly frustrating. I didn't mean "everyday" so literally. Office Space I already mentioned it, thanks.

As for Mommie Dearest, what Christina Crawford experienced was pretty much an everyday situation. I have read the book twice and for whatever intention there was behind getting the book published—I don't pass any judgement on CC for this and apparently JC was aware she was writing one before her death anyway, as she has been quoted as commenting on—I 'feel' that every word is true, as Christina recollects her experiences, from her own truth about her upbringing.

My roommate loves it and the premise sounds great. And I like Bill Murray a lot. I could go for a good comedy. It is a straight up comedy, isn't it? The first viewing is "straight up comedy" BUT it's a movie to watch again and again ….. each time it says more and more ! I suggest an annual viewing on (or near) Groundhog Day .. so that there is an interval between viewings. Reading about it AFTER seeing it and watching any "extras" on the disk pay off !

It is a favorite comedy of many, although it is not one of mine. If you haven't seen it, it is worth seeing once and it has been yonks and yonks since I have last seen and have only viewed twice. It has a romantic angle to it and Andie MacDowell is always an asset to the films she appears in.
I like What About Bob? more.
