I've never read a single comic book in my life. I was thinking about reading Marvel/DC comic books because I've enjoyed some of the movie output but there's such an overwhelming amount of material out there I simply don't know where to start. Thanks. The honest truth is that you should just go into your local comic shop, look up a character you've heard of that you think sounds interesting, and buy the latest issue of that book. That's it. Period. The rest will come.
That's the way I did it and MANY years later I have a massive collection with huge runs of many titles from across all companies.
Marvel and DC have lately all put out a lot of #1's that you can start with. There are also trades that collect entire storylines.
Getting into comics is an organic thing. You just have to start with your interest and let it go where it takes you.
