Nay for me, just because a handful have been historically awesome, doesn't mean I'd prefer them.
It's a rare Hollywood trend which worked out for the best sticking them after the movie - albeit they also began listing everyone & their brother's dog in the end credits.
Superman's worked, & yet Star Wars' opening crawl & score set the same stage - while being into the story proper.
Short montages like Back to the Future work well because they're not in your face. That was also 1985 when it was still standard.

It depends.
Some are quite artistic.

Yay is my vote. I like them, they set the tone for the movie.

I think I decided between Yay or Nay if it meant for all films. There are simply too many of my absolute favs I could not imagine with opening credits.
LOTR would be weird.

This isn't a yes/no question - it really depends on a case by case basis based on the tone of the movie.

Huge YAY for me.
as others have mentioned, some of them can really set the tone of the film (if done right). My personal favorite is Se7en's opening credit sequence . so damn creepy & really sets the tone for the film .

Usually nay. I end up fast forwarding a lot of them. Some may catch my eye if they are unusual or the opening music catches my ear but not very often

It can go either way. Sometimes the right music/song choice with unfolding credits on a blank screen is enough. Other times, it can be very elaborate.

yes - I much prefer the way they did it in old films - getting the credits over with at the beginning instead of having them dragging on at the end - especially as this seems to mean we now get absurdly long credits, with everyone connected with the film in any way at all being included.

I didn't realize this included opening scenes.
If that's the case, then definitely yes.
I thought it was about credits only.
