Gary Neville informed by presenter : Of course Shaquiri on the bench tonight. We'll be talking about him later." Neville (laughing) : "No comment." Idiot. His equally idiotic brother is no better. What did they have against Shaquiri before he signed for Liverpool?

Arnold sends one into the Palace box on '20. Three players, the Palace keeper Hennessey, defender Wan-Bissaka and Mane all go for the same ball and knock each other out. The ball trickles into the net but ref Oliver disallows it for a foul by someone on someone else in that three-man collision.
Two minutes later Salah breaks free for a one-on-one with the keeper but he is clumsy and he chips it way over the bar.
Oh Townsend has struck the Liverpool bar on '24! Alisson couldn't get hands to it and the woodwork took a proper belting.

Zaha looked to be clear through on goal there but was captured by Gomez with a crisp sliding tackle on the half-hour.

Sakho has a little dig at Salah just before half time and the Egyptian goes down like a sack of potatoes in the box. Milner sends Hennessey the wrong way for 0-1 Liverpool. Hodgson stands there on the touchline with his hands on his hips glaring at the proceedings. You can read his mind, he thinks Salah dived. And he did, to some extent, but the fact remains he was impinged upon by Sakho. And sadly it's the done thing these days to exaggerate falls.

All I heard on radio was "CHEAT! CHEAT! CHEAT! CHEAT!" They make themselves look like cheats, don't they? They forget the ref has got eyes and think if they don't go down like they've been machine-gunned they won't get the decision.

Salah didn't dive. If he did then we have a bent referee, who had the best seat in the house watching Sakho hacking away at Salah. Palace are threatening but getting past 'Pools back four is not as easy as it was a year ago. Virgil is mopping almost everything at the back and although Trent-Arnold's crossing is in the Izaguirre class (miles over everyone's head) he is a good pacy defender. Only Mane seems to have the wherewithal to outwit a superb Palace defence. Firmino and Salah are under the thumb and I expect Sturridge to come on soon. Keita continues to impress and showed wonderful skill taking an iffy pass from the keeper and with a sublime shimmy left a Palace player for dead before laying one on a plate for Mo, who seems to be having one of those nights. He not only lobbed the keeper butalmost row Z as well.

'48 and Salah, from Robertson's through ball, is one-on-one with Hennessey. The keeper diverts Salah and the ball away from goal but Salah drags it back from the byline and feeds it square to Keita who scuffs it wide from eight yards.

Oh Zaha embarks on a twisting run on '52 and avoids assault by two or three 'Pool players. He's eventually curtailed by a foul from Arnold. Milivojevic curls the free-kick, and it's on target, but Alisson gets a stretched hand to it and flies well to send it out for a corner. It comes to nothing but a 'Pool free-kick for a Zaha offside.

Zaha in the box on '73! Shoots from ten yards - but it's poor and easily captured by Alisson. Palace pressing, though.

Oh no, RED CARD PALACE on '75. Wan Bissaka is on Salah as Salah streaks toward goal. The Palace defender cuts him down just on the box edge and ref Oliver immediately produces the dreaded card. No complaints there from Palace as Wan Bissaka trudges off. Salah takes the resultant free-kick but it collides with Tomkins' head and ricochets over.

Salah tries his luck on '84 with a close range header but it's flight path is too predictable and it is easily handled by Hennessey.

Such a relief to finally have a keeper again.
It was a pen and Salah was unfortunately theatric but Sakho does defend like a newly born foal at times

Added time and Salah feeds Mane who runs half a pitch length and does it all on his own, slotting past Hennessey. Fair play to Palace for their contribution - they're really proving me wrong so far this season with their play. Liverpool pulled off a solid performance without excessive flair.
Liverpool go 2nd on GD while Palace sit in 10th.

Much too like about Klopp's Liverpool. Keeper is a gem, almost as good as Virgil is when playing out from the back. Keita faded a bit second half which may be a fitness issue but when Mo and Firmino were subdued, MAae took up the torch with some dazzling footwork and well deserved his goal. Palace are not a bad team. They will test the best at Selhurst Park but Benteke ?....c'mon Woy, you can do better than that.

I said he did dive - to an extent. It was an exaggerated fall, come on.

He was fouled by the clumsy Sakho. You know that. We all do. It was an easy decision for the ref.

Jesus, if you can't comment on a player exaggerating a fall without raising debate about the legitimacy of the ref's decision it's a sorry state of affairs. Anyway, the game's over. Let's move on.
