You know how every Tom Cruise movie will turn out. He survives at the end and he’s the hero. He doesn’t die. Now all of a sudden he is willing to play GL as long as the script is changed so he can survive, see? Tom Cruise is one of the best in Hollywood but we don’t need an A list actor to take advantage of their star power like that. We need humble actors.

A) I for one would NOT mind Tom Cruise playing Hal Jordan as long as they acknowledge his age. If they cast Cruise then I would have him be the older mentor to the younger Kyle Rayner, Jon Stewart and Guy Gardner. It supposed to be Green lantern Corps anyway, right? Thing about Cruise is his presence in a movie always elevates it. His attachment can only be good.
B) I don't want Hal Jordan to die anyway so why wouldn't Tom Cruise want to change that? Its a dumb move. The Green Lantern story is the story of Hal. Why would you want the main character to die in the first film of a franchise?
C) Where are you getting that Hal Jordan dies anyway?

It would certainly be odd if Tom Cruise plays a rookie Hal Jordan. Even Ben Affleck played a Batman who was already at it for 20 years, and he’s 10 years younger than Cruise. Anyway, I should point out that the Green Lantern story isn’t specifically about Hal Jordan. He’s merely the most well known Green Lantern.

I'd not mind it, especially if they go with the angle that Hal Jordan is the veteran training recruits. But if not, then I'd prefer a younger actor like Glen Powell or Liam Hemsworth.

I think he would be a good Hal Jordan, as the old mentor to the younger guys. His involvement would definitely be good and get a lot of people interested.

Watch Collateral , i think Tom would be a good villain. He is too old for the hero in a CBM.

I read on multiple websites saying Tom is opened to playing the character but wants to change the script because in the script, Hal dies. The GLC wouldn’t only be about Hal, it’ll be more than one character, probably just him and John Stewart as the central focus and then the rest of the GLC species. So I can see why they would kill of Hal and make John the primary hero. Filmmakers don’t copy 100% of the comic books but I do understand why people wouldn’t want him killed off. That wouldn’t be my first option either.

That wouldn’t be my first option either. I'm not calling you a liar, I'm just calling BS on that story. My understanding is the Geoff Johns is writing and producing that movie. Johns LOVES Hal Jordan in particular. He wrote that book for TEN years himself. Did some of his best work there. So I just don't believe that Johns would write a GL movie and the first chance he gets he kills Hal. Doesn't make sense to me. Especially since there are franchise potentials, at least a trilogy.
I think a good possibility would be: Tom Cruise plays Hal as a mentor to the younger Guy, Kyle and Jon characters. Tom only plays Hal in the Green Lantern Corps movies. One of the younger guys (Jon?) joins the Justice League and he's the Green Lantern in those movies. All angles covered.

He would be great, I don't see any problem with his image as a Green Lantern.

he'll ruin it the way he ruined the mummy. When you judge everyone by their worst movie then it would seem like they've never done good work ever. Such is not the case with Tom Cruise. Seen MI Fallout? That movie fucking rocked!!! ROCKED!
