Brainiac should’ve been the villain for JL. Lex Luthor should’ve signaled Brainiac from the Kryptonian ship. Similar idea from Zod when it connects to the codex except he wants to make Superman his pawn while collecting a city on Earth and destroying it. The thing about the codex though is that it is the key to access the Source. The only way to get to the Source is by traveling through the multiverse, getting pass The Fourth World which “would have been” his next plan. So basically Injustice 2 Brainiac. Brainiac could’ve hinted through dialogue and his plans for potential future films that would involve Flashpoint, Crime Syndicate, and New Gods. Brainiac could’ve been the one to open ideas for audience to talk about.

I guess it doesn't really matter now.
I'm kinda hoping they just start making "one off" superman and batman films.

I was hoping they'd take a Avengers route.
Someone fairly simple for the first movie as for the most part it'd have a huge focus on the Justice League themselves. So maybe someone like Metallo, Parasite or Mongul..
Then Brainiac for the second one and then Darkseid for either the third one or Steppenwolf and then Darkseid.

The only Superman villain I don’t mind them saving besides Lex Luthor is Brainiac. I would like to see him in a JL film. Batman they can save Deathstroke and of course Joker

I think in order to distinguish themselves better from The Avengers, they arguably should have gone with a less extraterrestrial antagonist like the Injustice Gang or Legion of Doom. Actually you know who would be amazing for a first go-around? Vandal Savage. He’s old enough for that he could have fought Atlanteans, Amazons, and who knows what else, so now Superman was “dead” he saw his chance to take over the world as he did in past personas as Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, etc. He then could have his lieutenant Deathstroke break Lex Luthor out of prison. They then team up for their own criminal counterpart to the Justice League.

In the comics Steppenwolf is a general in charge of Darkseids armies. So when they announced Steppenwolf I thought okay, they're gonna do him as a precursor to Darkseid.
Well we all saw how that turned out.

It'd have been less insulting if we at least saw Darkseid or if there was more information given about Steppenwolf's role in the scheme of things like perhaps tying in with the Knightmare sequence. But nope, nothing. Ziltch.

I had also hoped there might be some final scene showing Apokolips or something...?
