I gave the OP question some thought..
..and wondered if old stories like White Zombie, The Vampire Bat, The Old Dark House and The Cat and the Canary could be made in a way to attract audiences today without dumbing them down.
I have no answer myself

I have no answer myself Could they do Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? That's at least as good as the original? I have no idea either.

I'd like a remake of The Howling (1981) with extremely impressive transformation scenes. I love the original, but it could be updated in spectacular fashion. As long as itβs done practically. Fat chance.

I've said it before, but I would love a remake of The Prowler that is just the opening scene. I thought post-victory 1940s was an awesome setting for a slasher movie, and the Dear John letter/war trauma a decent motivation for the slasher himself. Then the movie jumps ahead forty years and just becomes a typical slasher. I want the whole movie in the 40s with greatest generation teens getting picked off, dammit.

I would like a remake of SSSSSSS in which the male protagonist acquires the ability to shapeshift from handsome guy to snake and back to handsome guy from the serum.

Is Lindsey Haun going to be in the sequel? I mostly watched it 'cause I was a fan of hers especially her music career.Β Last I checked it was still in development. If a sequel ever happens I could see them making a refrence to part 1 and focusing on a new group of people looking to trip out. Maybe include some quick flashbacks to part 1.

The Guardian is one of my favorites! π It's nice to see some love for it!The coyote scene is legit disturbing to me. I also love druid mythology. I'll check out The Hallow for sure. I really think you'll like it. It takes the time to let us get to know the family before things start happening, but once they do it's relentless. And all the creatures are well done and nightmarish. Did you see Shrooms? I thought it was pretty fun for a direct to video B movie. I haven't seen Shrooms, but I will soon thanks to your rec and the trailer. It makes me glad I haven't actually ate any hallucinogenic shrooms (morels and hickory jacks on the other hand are delicious!) or licked any frogs. I'm certain I've seen it on the shelves at my local Family Video.
