I think Lionsgate is kinda desperate in starting up another tent pole franchise right after how the Divergent series went. They're hoping movie based on a popular pre-existing property will become their next opportunity. Theoretically, they should've definitely waited to see how the first movie does critically and financially.

who knows if it will be popular or not but i won't be seeing it. looks worse than your typical movie of it's type from my impressions of it in the commercials.

This first one looks so bad. I think if they actually are going to move forward with the franchise then they need to shake things up. Less CGI-stuffed, earth-saving battles and more martial arts fighting and hand-to-hand combat. Smaller stories make for better characters and movies. But I still have little hope in this franchise.
