Hard to believe it’s been that long already.

The reaction to this casting was funny as hell.

I don't think it was a bad choice, but I hate the way he has been written.

Ben Affleck was at the top of his game back then. He had just come off a Best Picture win, he had what seemed like a healthy marriage, and he got to play Batman. Things sure have changed a lot in five years...

Good times. I still remember the backlash. Back then, I was more than willing to give Affleck a chance since Michael Keaton's casting as Batman was criticized, but later went on to be praised.

I remember it like it was yesterday. Pretty much blew people's minds because really wanted either Jon Hamm or Josh Brolin.
He ended up playing a good part in Batman vs Superman though. He was let down in Justice League though, they gave him the MCU treatment by giving him unnecessary jokes.

See my choice was always Karl Urban. I actually didn’t mind the casting. I had forgiven Affleck for Argo years prior.

I like him as Batman and I hope they don’t replace him.

I was pleasantly surprised with Batfleck, especially his Bruce in BvS.
I felt his opposition to god-like absolute power as an potential threat felt real and intriguing. In fact I was more intrigued by his performance and character motivation than with Bale's (the latter being the better actor of course).
That being said if he want's to move on, he should. There is a long line of great and differentiated Batman performances, and there is no end in sight.

Ben Affleck definitely wasn't the problem with BvS. Despite the ludicrous plot and story, he handled everything he was given to work with really well. And the moments between him and Jeremy Iron's Alfred were the best bits. That said, Zach Snyder, suffering from, as I like to call it "horny geeky dickhead teenage" syndrome where everything is about making your stuff "cool" for the sake of being "cool" to appease to dumb priapic teenagers, doesn't really understand the character.
