Are we sure it was a priest, not just a homeless guy in a vestment holding a "The end is nigh," sign? Seems like insane behavior, even for a priest. Not that I'm downplaying the situation, it's shitty either way. It was a priest from a local church where I grew up. He was one of those Evangelical Christian bigots. What an asshole. Sorry you had to go through that, but you're definitely better off out of a community that keeps a guy like that around.

The fact that assholes like that not only still exist but viewed themselves as some high moral good guy and are even still getting support is sickening. It's crazy how cultish religion can get.

If you don’t toe the line, you’re off the proverbial ark.

The fact that assholes like that not only still exist but viewed themselves as some high moral good guy and are even still getting support is sickening. It's crazy how cultish religion can get. I grew up in a Southern Baptist church. I don't know if I can relate the crazy that went on there. First everyone was expected to go from 9am sunday to 1:30pm then 5pm-10pm of the same day. Also 5-10pm on Wednesday. Only acceptable excuse was illness. People would speak in tongues and run up the isles. No one could wear shorts as it was a sin on or off church property. Women couldn't wear jeans or any pants that came close to the crotch. Any child that asked questions in Sunday School would have to see the preacher afterward for being difficult. I landed there a few times. The preacher on more than a few occasions spanked a 20 year old man who was kind of slow, not retarded, just not very intelligent. Literally just threw him over his knee and paddled him. One of the spankings was because he fell from a scaffold while painting the fellowship hall and said Jiminy Cricket. He had rolled an ankle. The Preacher said it was Blasphemous because he meant Jesus Christ. He preached that being gay was worse that murder. As murder was one act where being gay was a continuous way of being against God. I went there from age 5-13. At 13 I just refused to go. I was the baby of the family and usually got my way. After refusing the second time Mom relented and stopped going herself. The first time I refused to go and she made me I just layed down in the back pew and slept the entire morning service. I think that settled it. Part of me is glad I went there. It was so unabashedly crazy It put me off on religion as a whole. So in that I have to thank the nuttier. Still I had a lot of fucked up rules in my head for a long time that had to be worked out. I am glad I was white, straight, and male or my time might've been a hell of a lot worse. 2 of the deacons were in the KKK so I guess if I wasn't white prolly couldn't have gotten in the door. The preached that people from Africa were children of Ham and therefore cursed to toil the land for the other races. So while I cannot imagine what you went through I can empathize with the crazy that religion can hold. I'm sorry you went through that.

Man, I grew up pretty religious in a largely Catholic community... in Northeastern Pennsylvania. If you've been following the news, you know what I'm alluding to; my alma mater, the University of Scranton, is in the process of renaming three different BUILDINGS because they are presently "christened" with names of vile child sex offenders. So, I definitely share your general -- if less personal -- feelings of disgust with organized religion.

Dude, people I know who still live back home tell me the local community is devastated. It's fucked. Naturally I turned my back on the Church years ago -- as Bill Maher says, "when I reached the age of reason." But this is... on another level.

Ironic you said 3 things thatguy said. keep socking. anti-mcu crusade. did thatguy not use that same term yesterday? thatguy also keeps calling me wormhole/question. X-Men getting a fresh start by being like GOTG and Avengers,? thank goodness people had the brains to separate real star wars from mcu disney star wars, xmen will be much easier to separate. a fresh start with a tired mcu formula that does not even qualify as credible film making
Please keep contradicting yourself about a film like Logan, considered the best xmen movie that the director made due to his MCU hatred. About the fresh start, how will MCU handle Nova with their comedy light hearted film making?
Well you do share a lot of the same qualities. How many times did wormhole bring up Mickey Rourke, Edward Norton and quotes from other filmmakers to back up his opinion just like you keep doing? The incoherent, raving rants that you go on are those that were hallmarks of wormhole/question7. Why didn't you just keep the same name when you came over here? I kept mine. I don't keep track of what Thatguy says. I can see you do though. How am I contradicting myself? I really liked Logan. I thought it was the best comic book movie of 2017. I've never said anything to the contrary. It's a fitting end to the Fox-Men franchise. Now it's time for something new and fresh. We didn't make Fox sell to Disney. If you're that upset about it, go start a petition or something. Actually, he doesn't. I've never said any of that. Crusade is not a word I would use. I make fun of a guy for using "swell" (brings back the scene from Superman '78). I think he's putting a bunch of people together.
He keeps putting the same videos up that I had to look through the entire thread to see if I replied to this already. But I'm sure I've never been in this thread before...

Think this kind of disrespects the 1000's of people who had they're lives destroyed by the people who were there to guide and protect them. And when those people got the courage to accuse their attackers the system in place just quieted it and moved the attacker to a new place.

lol..socks replying to themselves.
we got the memo, you got BUSTED.. I will wait for the next person to call me question/wormhole. funny as famous as wormhole was on imdb and cross-referenced here, no one has called me him/her.
I will also wait for the next person that claims to be an XMEN fan but hates films like DOFP and likes MCU movies even ones like thor jokenock knowing how impossible that is according to the xmen lore and marvel comics itself.

Again, you are saying that if you are a fan of the comics you have to automatically be a fan of the movies they are based on? I feel sorry for fans of the Steel and Spawn comics.

Automatically be a fan? not necessary. though there is a 95% truth that fans of comics will like DOFP more than fans of comics like Thor Ragnarök because DOFP was faithful to the content of the story. Ragnarök was not. so why will any fan like that, especially when Ragnarök was dumbed down which is the worst thing anyone can ever do to the story and the best way to piss fans off. dumb things down.
We do feel sorry of real marvel fans and star wars fans. Its the reason we rebelled against Disney.

fake xmen fans too embarrassed about liking the pathetic garbage MCU. yawn
