Just to be clear, when I say biggest, I’m not by any means suggesting that it’ll make the most money of any DC movie, or even any DCEU movie. I mean biggest in terms of scale. Does the movie look grand in scope to you? If it does, would you consider that to be a good or bad thing?

Yes, and I approve. The action alone seems bigger and grander than what we got in Justice League. On the other hand, it makes me wonder what they'd do for sequels since both his main nemeses are present (Ocean Master and Black Manta). I think they planned to make Black Manta a recurring character so I think he'll live this round?

"Grand in scope" isn't a problem as long as time is taken to develop the characters. If the characters are 2D cardboard cut-outs then the movie becomes a CGI shitfest.

I think the OP is right . It certainly looks epic on a grand scale . esp compared to the previous DCEU films . when I saw the trailer in front of the new MI Fallout film, I was impressed with the visuals & underwater scenes on the big screen (watching the trailer on your computer doesn't do it justice) . I'll probably see this one on Xmas . really hoping its good.

sure this has the vibe of a space opera meets fantasy.
With an underwater world and army there is nothing comparable in ambition, thus very difficult to pull through successfully.
But they already suceeded to turn THE laughing stock of a superhero into something cool. So there is that.

IT certainly has the cast and FX for it.
Hopefully DCEU wont be stupid and stay away from a Superman sequel and/or a Justice League sequel. With the right story and director those two could still be HUGE franchises.
A Superman vs Brainiac movie would be awesome! A Justice League go to war on Apokolips movie would be awesome!
The reason why the previous movies failed is because of Zack Snyders directorial style. With new directors and more upbeat stories upcoming movies would be so much better. DCEU can still be saved if they just had some balls over at WB.

I say 700-800mil BO, thats a conservative estimate

Why have 10 mermen riding giant seahorses when CGI makes it easy to load up the screen with 100s, 1000s? More is better, right?

Unfortuantely they're playin the game from two angles... A) Fear of what hasn't worked so far, and B) Throwing shit at the wall in the hopes that it will stick. As much as I love my DC characters they really don't look like they working from any concrete plan or from a place of confidence.
All you have to do is look at the rather strong box office numbers of the first 4 DCEU movies to see that there are people interested enough to see these movies. None of those movies are actually flops: MOS- Domestic: $291,045,518 - Worldwide: $668,045,518 are respectable numbers BvS- Domestic: $330,360,194 - Worldwide: $873,634,919 are very respectable numbers Suicide Squad- Domestic: $325,100,054 - Worldwide: $746,846,894 are respectable numbers WW- Domestic: $412,563,408 - Worldwide: $821,847,012 are again very respectable numbers (We don't need to mention Justice League)
The only one of these they're following up on is Wonder Woman. They're missing opportunities.

Maybe. It could turn out like Black Panther, just not quite as successful.

I think there's a rule that applies - don't bite off more story than you can chew.

Aquaman does look grand, but BVS still rules in terms of scope and ambition, regardless of the result. Batman vs Superman, doesn't get more epic than that.
