When I buy pop and get it home, I want to chug it right away, so why can't it already be cold when I buy it, just like beer?

Probably to save on electricity.
It's annoying.

If you buy pack of 10 cans then you get for $5-$8 depending on availability of discounts.

I would assume it's a cost thing.
but it does not really bother me because I generally buy in 2-liters anyways and store some extras as backup to what I already have and then just rotate them as I use them so there is always cold ones ready to use.

I had to get cold 16 ounce bottles once and needed 6. The cashier rang it up at a 6 pack price instead of 6 individual bottles, but I doubt she was really supposed to do that.

I've only seen the 20 ounce bottles near the registers refrigerated.

Okay, rememebred wrong,,I go to grocery stores yet get THEM confused with DRUG stores (where they ARE refrigerated). yeah, why grocery stores don't is strange to me too.

Just make sure you have ice at home. Pour a glass, add ice, enjoy.
It's not difficult.

Not sure, brah, but there's really no need. They should be drunken in a glass with ice anyway. That's the best way.

Well, my grocery store has a 'convenience' fridge at the front end, with single bottles & cans of stuff - not least probably to compliment the on the go hot meal offerings they sell too.
If you really want Coke, grab a case & get a single mini bottle for the ride home.

When I buy pop and get it home, I want to chug it right away, so why can't it already be cold when I buy it, just like beer? Many do, for small bottles. I'd guess that for larger ones it's not economical to refrigerate it all. Cheaper to sell it at room temperature. Do what I do, and keep some ice in the freezer. That way you can have it cold straight away.

We used to have a store called the Pop Shoppe. Coke, root beer, cream soda, orange crush, lime soda etc. You would get cases of the drinks--the bottles were like stubbier versions of a coca-cola bottle--so shorter in height but more volume--you got the drinks then returned the empty bottles when you went for more. I think they had the drinks delivered in barrels and they filled them by hand. The bottles were unmarked too. maybe they were generic drinks but I didnt taste the difference.
