First we had that incompetent schemozzle of a week in Canberra which saw Australia say hi to our 5th leader in 5 years, Scott Morrison, then we got absolutely trounced by New Zealand in the Rugby. 40-12. 16 years in a row now we've lost the series to the All Blacks. Time to deport a few more ex-pat crims back to NZ in retaliation methinks.

Losing to NZ is hardly an earth-shattering surprise. It happens to all of us on a regular basis.

Your system where someone can become leader without a vote of the majority of the population is asinine.

Sort of, but on the other hand...Trump, Macron, old mate in Venezuela. Things could be much worse. I expect the Liberals will adopt a similar leadership system to the one Labor now have, with a vote of the entire party membership, which would take several weeks to organise, required in order to change leaders.
If two teams play each other in 3 game series anually, 17 years is pretty bad.

Is there one clear-cut reason for their dominance, aside how much importance they put on playing it at all levels, and being able to draw from a pool of Polynesians built like brick outhouses.

I was hoping for Julie Bishop to be the new one. Not to be it seems. Don't like the face of this new one.

But even how the system normally works - ok, everyone knows who the PM will be if the party wins, but that candidate is only directly voted for by a handful of people in their constituency. I know they are usually from supersafe seats, but in theory the party could win while their leader loses their seat.

New Zealand is the only nation in the world where Rugby Union is the premier football code and attracts all of the best athletes. Australia for example has very stiff competition from Aussie Rules and Rugby League. For the foreseeable future, New Zealand will dominate Rugby Union with England and South Africa being the only nations to come close.
