There's been 5 Boggy Creek films (with IMDb rating):
The Legend of Boggy Creek (1972) -- 4.9 Return to Boggy Creek (1977) -- 2.3 Boggy Creek II (1984) -- 2.3 The Legacy of Boggy Creek (2011) -- 3.8
And the remake: Boggy Creek (2010) -- 3.3
I've seen the first two, but it's been so long since I've seen the second one that I don't remember it at all.
I know the documentary style and amateurish nature of the original probably turns people off, but I actually quite love the atmosphere that it builds. I would LOVE to see a remake done with a little money and polish behind it. I'm not so beholden to the documentary style that I would have to hold to it, but I wouldn't mind if they were to keep it either. Something in the style of The Town that Dreaded Sundown remake might be good. I would be satisfied with a film shot on Super 16 about a group of hikers being terrorized by the Fouke monster. That would be cool.
Mostly, I guess, I just love the eeriness that is the name "Boggy Creek," and I think it should be revived.
"Tales from Boggy Creek" "The Horror of Boggy Creek" "The Curse of Boggy Creek" "Blood of Boggy Creek"
That title is gold I tell you!

Well I did see Return for the monster movie challenge (which is definitely a kids movie). I also saw (not completely) Creature from the Black Lake (1976) and Boggy Creek II (1984). I guess I will watch the original at some point but so far I think bigfoot/sasquatch movies are quite rubbish.

Not a great series of movies, ripe remake fodder if ever there was any. Someone needs to make coherent, in focus updates, I'd watch 'em.

I think the original is wonderful. Awkwardly made, cheap, sometimes funny, surreal, weird, only occasionally frightening, yet it drew me in. I can't sit through any other entry in the series and I really don't think it needed any follow-ups. It's in a class by itself. I really wish they'd stop doing this to one of a kind movies, especially little indies that mainly have a cult appeal. This is what makes them special. Sometimes lightning in a bottle is lightning in a bottle.
