Roadside grave markers
I pass a roadside grave for “Scott” on my way to work. I pass another for “Doris” on my way home. Each is marked with a cross and flowers. Scott also has a flag next to his. I presume Scott and Doris were killed in automobile accidents at their respective spots. In the 110 miles that I travel to my summer cottage, I pass four more. They always have crosses. Do any Muslims, Jews, Hindus or atheists ever die in roadside accidents?
It’s not the religious crosses to which I object, it’s the fact that their loved ones have placed a personal, memorial shrine on public property. What makes it more annoying is that I found that Scott was the at-fault driver when he died, being legally drunk at the time and sending someone else to the hospital.
If you want to build a shrine to Scott, do it on your own lawn. Why should I have to look at it.

All the road accident shrines round here don't have religious symbols, mostly adorned with football (soccer to merkins) shirts, scarfs, etc, and cans of cider.

I couldn't care less about them being there. Never once have I been annoyed or felt that "action" was needed to stop this crucial problem.

I don't particularly care, I'm more perplxed by people who put "In memory of" lettering of a loved one on their car windshield. Why would you want a constant reminder of that everytime you drove?

Pretty sure you can generally peel it off. But still, dunno why anyone would actually want to do that: "My brother died of a alcohol poisoning, you know what I should do? Get a constant reminder everytime I drive to the liquor store."
