I think you’ll find few Gaia worshipers, wiccas, psychics, and practitioners of new age medicine, at a Trump rally. Those fruitcakes tend to vote Democrat. I think it has something to do with not having a firm grasp on reality. And yet the conspiracy nuts, flat earth idiots, gay frog and chem trail morons and Kubrick moon landing maniacs tend to be Trump supporting idiots.

Conspiracy Nuts - More Democrats believe the US gov was involved in the 9/11 plot than Republicans. Same goes with the government conspiracy to distribute crack to the inner cities. Chem Trails - More Democrats than Republican believe, or aren't sure, if the government is spreading chemicals through plane exhaust. Moon Landing - Democrats win this one too, with the far lefties leading the charge. No data on flat earth or gay frogs.

The type of people who claimed that Obama was an illegal foreign agent born in Kenya and installed to promote an Islamic state in the US. You don't even have to look the Trump followers for that one.. that one is on him personally.

Actually, the opposite is true. I have never met or heard from a Flat Earther or Truther that was not a Democrat. Literally the exact opposite is true in my case. What are the odds?! I am sorry, but I find this very hard to believe. Look at every 'renown' flat earther and truther. They are all Democrats and huge anti-Trump nuts, including the very guy mentioned in this thread (Kyrie). I see these nuts all the time on social media and they are ALWAYS Democrats. Not sometimes, but always. I am sure that there are some exceptions out there like anything, but it is not the norm.

And my experience with Republicans is literally the exact opposite - anti science, anti higher education (usually based on some "liberal brainwashing" thing) and yes, they are the most likely to absorb some kind of flat-earth nonsense. I was in Philadelphia the other day and there was a guy in the park handing out pamphlets about flat earth - guess what hat he was wearing. Now it's not like I've met hundreds of flat earthers but the few I have met have all been demonstrably right wing in one way form or other. I can't speak to social media or what Kyrie Irving has to say. Are there really any renowned flat earthers? Let's do a quick google search. Tila Tequila is one, she's the one who posted a Nazi salute. I'm sure you'll say that all Nazis are Democrats. I'll simply point out the Charlottesville rallies and who those fine people voted for. I see Shaq said something once, but then said he was joking. Sammy Watkins....just said something unintelligible. Everyone else I see pop up on the search are people I've never heard of before and I can't attest to their political leanings. We can probably dance in this circle all day if we want to. I'd prefer not to, but we certainly can, slow work week and all. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever actually met a truther in person. I wonder if that's a regional thing or just a coincidence.

The Kenya thing originated in the Hillary camp and was exacerbated by Obama telling his publicist in the early '90s that he was born in Kenya. The PPP poll does say that many more Republican than Democrats believe, or are not sure if Obama is the anti-Christ. Only around 10% of the Democrats who voted for him believe that. Now that's party loyalty!

Now that's party loyalty! On its surface I'd say it at least demonstrates critical thought; they think he's the anti-Christ but still preferred his pitch over the Republican nominee. But I'd have to question the validity of those polls-- you know, like the ones that showed Hillary winning the Presidential election in 2016.

You should probably start questioning your life choices if you're finding a way to meet truthers all of the time. I can't say I've ever met one; or at least I haven't asked the political leanings of any mentally ill person shouting on street corners. I have family and co-workers who are Trump supporters, and those who are decidedly anti-Trump. Both groups in my circle are highly educated and well traveled. I understand their political leanings if not the logic behind those supporting Trump. I'm not calling you a liar, but I have to believe not every idiot you've ever met happened to be a Democrat. The odds of that would be as incredible as someone saying every idiot they've ever met was a Republican. Hyperbole is a dangerous thing when you're talking politics and social issues, and this 'Us vs. Them' attitude exacerbated by Trump (and further stoked by the media) isn't helping anyone. Don't exaggerate into falsehood when you're trying to make a point, you undercut your entire argument when nobody can take you seriously.

I said that every truther I have ever seen is a Democrat, which is true. Also, a lot of my patients do have mental health issues. Back in the GWB days, we had an alarming number of Democrats who believed Bush/Cheney masterminded 9/11. Today, those same people are seeing Russians under every bed. Rinse & repeat.

To continue on this one I see crazy Republicans all of the time and they give the rest of us a bad name. I have a lot of patients who love Trump and they know I support him so they always come and strike up a conversation with me. It starts normal enough. We talk about the good things he is doing with the economy, for instance. Then it always goes off the rails. They start with their crazy theories on Obama being a Muslim or the anti-Christ or something. The crap is nutty. There are nuts on both sides of the aisle. I always admit that. I actually had one guy tell me the other day that Trump was Jesus risen again to save us from our sins. He says he met him before and he felt the presence of God in him. Crazy talk.
