If you follow Plinkett's videos and/or Red Letter Media, you knew it would happen sooner or later.

These things are usually as long as the movie they're riffing on. I like Half In The Bag (generally) but couldn't even stomach 20 minutes of Mr. Plinkett's Revenge of the Sith review.

Ha I was wondering if he would insult Rian Johnson and he started within a few seconds.

The one Plinkett review I haven't, and won't, watch is for Ghostbusters 2016. The main reason being I like the film (yes, people like us exist) and I've grown very tired of reading, watching, seeing, etc. the movie get constantly criticized. Knowing Plinkett's review style and how the RLM crew hate the film, I decided to spare myself from seeing it since I know if I watch I'll be on the defensive too much. Anyways, if you know how the RLM crew feel about the film, Plinkett's review style, your feelings on the film, and you feeling like you'll be wanting to defend TLJ too much if you watch the review, then do yourself a favor and don't watch it. No need to possibly drive yourself nuts over a film even though it's just a film and opinions will always vary.

I'm still torn about The Last Jedi.
On the one hand, I really like where they took the story. It was bold, different, and took risks I haven't felt in a while. They widened the narrative and made it a more accessible narrative in the Star Wars universe that anybody can make a difference.
The first 3 movies revolve around events that affect the galaxy but everybody connected to the events are related by blood/family or relationships that span generations. Star Wars is like a story wherein all the action that affects the universe is told in the middle of the bullseye. I like that characters can be brought in from outside that incredibly close-knit circle and make a difference.
On the other, while I appreciate where they took the story, for some reason it's the things I don't like that stand out to me after it's over. Like Leia floating through space. I also think Admiral Holdo could have been more forthcoming with the plan, but she played less a character and more an obstacle to Poe. She kind of went back and forth between plot device and fleshed out character with her own motives and scruples. Her role as opposition to Poe dragged her character down for me, especially considering what she did in the end.
I like Rey. I fell for her pretty quick. I want her to kick ass.

I can handle different opinions, and if I hadn't spent the last 9 months hearing people bash the movie, I wouldn't hesitate to watch (I mean, they also did Titanic, which is one of my favorite movies). By the way, you didn't miss much with that Plinkett Ghostbusters review. Thought Mike getting toasted off of Dan Aykriod skull vodka was funnier than anything Plinkett said.

I figured he lost his touch from his expired pizza rolls rotting his mind but its funny and insightful and he uses examples from other movies as well as the sound clip of his penis being cut off by his cat in 1969.
"What a shit show!"
"Or was he calling the ship a she? Oh jeez, I wasn't expecting such outdated and sexist sailor talk from such a progressive film. How dare they? I'm protesting! Come on ANTIFA! Let's get Star Wars next."

Anyone could always "make a difference" in Star Wars. Han Solo wasn't a Jedi. None of the rebels aside from Luke were Jedis. The last Jedi was just garbage. Just making something different or putting "surprises" in doesn't make a movie good. What they did with Luke Skywalker was just pathetic. They totally ruined his character. Fans waited 30 years to see Luke again and he's barely in the movie and when he is in the movie he's a totally different character than the one we knew and loved. Even Hammil hated what they did with Luke. Johnson should have continued the story as JJ had laid it out. You can't build up characters or story lines and then throw them away or do a 180 and not tick off the audience. Also the tone of the movie was too goofy. Plinkett touches on that but it was a huge complaint in all the reviews. The imperials acted like complete buffoons. The dumb "your momma" joke phone call thing was just stupid. So so so stupid. Just a garbage movie. Complete and utter garbage.

Plinkett said Johnson seems to have been making a comedy.
As I said--when he indicated his filmmaking guru was Woody Allen who is not exactly known for his serious action movies.
Johnson will be remembered for ruining Star Wars. Others may have helped but he will take the blame. He'll never reach a greater height or depth.

Isn't that inconsistent with your Luke rant? People blame Johnson for Luke not being the exact same person after 30 years, but Abrams didn't leave him a lot of choices. We have the most powerful man in the galaxy, who's disappeared after his student/nephew went bad, camping out on Planet Ireland and not looking very happy once found. Not really painting a picture of someone who wants to be found. What Johnson did was not only follow the story of the TFA, but followed the story of the prequelss which largely portrayed the Jedi as undone by their own hubris.

No. Nobody expected Luke to be the exact same person. But Johnson RUINED Luke, then killed him and to top it off gave him very little screen time. Instead of hanging out with Luke we got to hang out with Admiral Feminist, Finn and Rose Tico. Who doesn't love those 3, right? Even Hammil hated what Johnson did with Luke. The movie was garbage. Pure garbage.

Once again, haven't addressed my point about Luke, instead choosing to whine about a character being a feminist because she had a certain hair color. And the film made nearly $1.5 billion, I don't think it needed an extra $15 from me.

And TLJ may have made 1.5 but if fell short of expectations and fell off sharply after the opening week. Then Solo bombed. You Admiral Feminist fans should have bought more tickets.

Why do people think it's impossible for a character to have a change in personality and become disillusioned in the span of 30 years over a dramatic event like for Luke? Having the character be troubled is more interesting dramatically than to just have him be heroic like before 30 years ago and to come in and easily save the day.

Instead of hanging out with Luke we got to hang out with Admiral Feminist, Finn and Rose Tico. Who doesn't love those 3, right" Hmm...nope, that has absolutely f**k all to do with what I said about Luke. If your attention span needs a refresher, I said Johnson took the character where ABRAMS left him. It was critically raved. The only expectations it fell short of were mostly fanboys like yourself who are more focused on hair colors than character arcs. And how is it TLJ fans' job to make sure Solo does a good job at the box office? I didn't give a sh*t about Solo. In fact, no one gave a sh*t about Solo even before TLJ came out. If anyone should have made Solo a success, it's you incels who can't handle movies without white males as the main characters. You voted against that with your wallets while TLJ made, again, a whopping 1.3 billion+. Good job. See you when Episode 9 also makes over a billion.
