I drink 1-2 cans of diet per day. I stopped a few weeks ago, which lasted a week, now I'm back off the wagon again.

I used to drink at least 6 cans a day. One day I just decided to stop drinking it. Was surprised how easy it was for me, since I'd drank almost nothing but soda since I was like 8. Though there is that initial detox period where I got some headaches.
I actually gave up caffeine in general for awhile but right now I'm on coffee.

Over the years I reduced its consumption but I have never been able to give it up. It has so many times messed up my life. Almost always disturbs my sleep cycle. Might even be harmful for health. While I am not fat or even close to fat, it does make my body less shapely. A bad thing but I am sort of addicted to it. Currently drink about 2-3 cans everyday. Must have it with burgers/chips or any hot food.

Well, the same things won't work for everyone, but I gave it up by switching to cold coffee for my caffeine/sweet kick and bottled water for thurst quenching. I wasn't fat either (well, at least not after I switched to diet). I gave it up to look better for an acting role. People were starting to say I looked older than I was and I figured all the soda wasn't helping.

You really ought to give him another chance. ...Oh, THAT kind of pop. Now I get it. I take it you are from the midwest.
I only drink diet beverages. The older I get the healthier my diet is. I grew up on Coca-Cola and Mountain Dew, then switched to Cranberry Juice cocktail for several years but I found that that and even pure fruit juice is mostly sugar and after gaining a few extra pounds, switched to diet soft drinks. My favorite drink of choice, though, is distilled water. I put a gallon of it in the freezer for about an hour. There is nothing more refreshing.

I haven't had a can of pop (diet or regular) since the early 1990's. I drink bottled water with all my food and coffee or tea (unsweetened).

Beer and coffee are better alternatives. There's an endless number of amazing coffees/beers on the market now days. I mean, sweet stouts (a type of beer) basically taste like chocolate soda pop. And there are unflavored coffees out there too that taste like chocolate syrup and/or citrus fruit.

Here's an interesting news item. Because of problems with obesity with elementary school kids in Belgian, very low alcohol beer is being substituted for soda for the kids.

It wasn't that long ago when everyone including children would drink beer in Europe.

I remember that. I was in England back in the 80s and there was no legal drinking age. Nor did I see any drunk kids. They would drink shandy, which is very much like the very low-alcohol beer that koskiewicz mentioned. The best thing about it was that parents were responsible, not the state. I wish it were that way here.

After we found out we were both diabetic, we had to give up our pop habit. Can't deal with diet anything. It was really hard at first, but got easier over time. We still will share a can if we have pizza or burgers.

Flavored seltzer. I even add vanilla extract to seltzer to make what tastes like cream soda.

I have not had soda in decades. I do like the fizz, so I get mineral water.

I promise you that if you manage to go without pop for a month you will never go back.
I used drink a metric fuck ton of soda everyday. Growing up I used to drink it like water. I decided to give it up in college and now I literally can't finish one. Occasionally I'll open a bottle of the real sugar Coke or Sprite at a BQQ or a friend's house and I can only drink about half. It just seems way too sweet and acidic after you're no longer used to it.

I drink roughly 16-32oz of Coke or Mountain Dew a day.
pretty much anytime I eat food, ill be drinking one of those two as they just go great with food.
p.s. I heard that diet stuff is worse than the regular and not only that it taste like crap to.

...and yet another news item:
Many small children in the US are so obese, car seat manufacturers that make seats for toddlers have to make larger ones to accommodate the fatsos.

I gave up drinking soda back in the early 90s. I only drink water now with my meals. Lost about 8lbs instantly after I stopped drinking it. It really wasn't hard for me to give that up and I don't even miss it. I had always preferred Snapple pink lemonade or their lemon iced tea anyway which I also gave up at the same time. I do miss my Snapple though.
