Every time I've tried to research this, all I'd get back were movies with HIM in it.

Probably fairly hard to find that information unless an interviewer asked him about it at some point in time.

The ones where he got paid big bucks for little work? Hot got paid millions for little work on "Christopher Columbus: The Discovery" and yet wanted his name removed from the credits since Brando was upset that the film failed to portray Columbus' complicity in the genocide of Native Americans.

Probably fairly hard to find that information unless an interviewer asked him about it at some point in time. I've seen all the interviews available, and books, and it seems like he'd dodge any question about acting. I think it was immature of him not to mention some great things for awareness to "all the lost souls"

I always got the impression that he wasn’t much of a movie watcher.

He watched movies. If I just sit with it awhile, I'm sure I could mention one or two from various sources. I know he thought highly of Paul Muni at one point: probably early in his career. He said both good and bad things about Cagney. I would imagine he was fan of this film, "The Battle Of Algiers", as he turned down a few major roles (rumored "Butch Cassidy" and another gig with Kazan) to do the directors next film, "Burn!". Did some great acting in it, too. Probably the films of Bertolucci too, since he drew so much out of him in "Tango". I know he loved working with David Niven, James Caan, and Jack Nicholson. I would also say this: since Brando was truly 'all over the place' with his interests, had acted till it bored him, took on a big directing project which was bigger than him, and had quit that film deep into the editing process? He may have had a hard time viewing a film 'viscerally', and always seeing 'the works/technical'. I've read of many actors/actresses who don't particularly care to watch movies, especially their own. They hate the editing, etc, and often believe it confuses various 'choices' they made for particular scenes. Almost like "copy and pasting" an article together from various quotes, the actor may remember a particular context of where they were in a particular scene, completely contradicted in the mix. Off topic, but not really? Miles Davis hated listening to his own records, and preferred seeing performers live than to listening to their records. EDIT: It would probably be a safe bet to assume he liked John Garfield and Montgomery Clift films of the late 40's, early 50's, and remained a fan of Kazan. I'm gonna look into this further, though. It's a great question!

I looked inside one of my Brando books last night and it was mentioned he like Paul Muni - so I imagine he saw some of those movies. Maybe "I Am A Fugitive From A Chain Gang" ?

The ones where he got paid big bucks for little work? I meant movies he liked to watch.. Not those with him in it.

As mentioned, he was a big fan of Muni. I believe he was a fan of Ikiru and Ugetsu.

As mentioned, he was a big fan of Muni. I believe he was a fan of Ikiru and Ugetsu. Ikiru was the first Kurosawa movie -- great... I don't think I've seen Ugetsu, thanks.
