What are some films that basically killed an actor or director's career?
For example:
Heaven's Gate - Michael Cimino Howard the Duck - Willard Huyck Chairman of the Board - Carrot Top The Phantom Menace - Jake Lloyd Gigli - Martin Brest Catwoman - Pitof

THE CABLE GUY - Matthew Broderick They gave him Godzilla and Inspector Gadget right after that (either of those probably being better contenders for career killers). Need For Speed killed Aaron Paul's movie career before it even started.

Mr. Accident - Yahoo Serious (anyone remember this guy? I seriously doubt that film killed his career, but it popped into my head. I think his career was DOA)...

That is 2 movies and that is after 9 years of mediocrity. Just look at his filmography. He has a couple indie movies in the early 1990's and the rest of the 1990's was spent making bad Hollywood movies, with the exception of The Lion King. That is a huge change from his run in the 1980's.

Superman Returns - Brandon Routh ,Kate Bosworth Teen Wolf Too - Jason Bateman Well Bateman had a comeback in the late 2000s/early 2010s so his career is doing now. Someone like Broderick never recovered. Elizabeth Berkley - Showgirls Pamela Anderson - Barb Wire (I just learned this was expected to be a smash hit when released) Chris O'Donnell & Alicia Silverstone - Batman & Robin (also somewhat Uma Thurman)

re: Broderick Even by GLORY (1987), Matthew Broderick doesn't seem right for the role. A wasted oppurtunity for the right actor who could of eaten up that major part. Just a thought.

I think Shia LeBeouf killed his career with his mouth/antics. He said Crystal Skull was disappointing and he was miscast as Indiana Jones son and even said Harrison Ford told him he was a "fucking idiot" for badmouthing it. He must have been under contract to complete the Transformer films but they dropped him after that. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen killed the careers of Sean Connery and Stephen Norrington. It's too bad--I liked Blade better than Blade 2 and despite some misgivings I didn't mind League either. Take a look at Norrington's IMDB, he really got banished to the wilderness unless no one has updated his credits.

One For The Money- Katherine Heigl. I am pretty sure it wasn't a film that ruined her career but her bad attitude and mouth...

One For The Money- Katherine Heigl. I am pretty sure it wasn't a film that ruined her career but her bad attitude and mouth... What's crazy about her career was that the show she left- where she was a supporting character- is still on the air. At present, she's currently on "Suits", which is her third series as a regular character.
