I strongly believe that the first part of your claim is bound to happen sometime in the future. Even when the US economy is booming they continue to borrow money because lifestyle of an average American is based on credit based consumption. Unlike citizens of Asian countries, the citizens of the US do not believe in saving money. This may not hurt them currently but borrowing cannot continue into eternity. There will be a time the US will not be able to borrow any-more. Probably their economy will collapse. None but only the mighty China is the next superpower. Now whether they will be able to extract the payments in the form of land is something I don't know. The US has far advanced air-force, military and navy and seems like it will continue to have so in the foreseeable future. |
