I'm not that big of a fan of revenge films, or AI come to that, but I read a review of this one and thought I'd give it a try. I'm very glad I did as I liked it a lot.
I was surprised at how great a job they did with everything: the effects, the actors, the story, all were above what you would expect for a low budget film. I liked where they went with the ending and hope they make a sequel.
I'm interested in hearing the thoughts of anyone else that has seen it.

I rather enjoyed this.
Having seen the trailer I went in expecting an action movie based around the schtick they display there - he has an AI in his head which can, with his permission, control his actions and thus fight in the most efficient possible manner. I expected the film to basically be a series of fight scenes where he beats people up left and right.
And that stuff is there... but this is a much smarter movie than that. It actually explores the upside and downside of his condition. It goes into what happens if he wants to take risks that the AI doesn't want to take, or the AI wants to do things that he doesn't want to do - given that death for him means it suffers too, just how much say should it have over this stuff?
And the plot is smarter and more twisty than I expected. No spoilers, but I really was caught by surprise as it went on.
They also put more effort into the world-building than I expected. I figured this would be a "five minutes into the future" thing where his chip is an advance but everything else is the same. But actually there's a few few cyberpunk elements going on here. It's not super far future or anything, but far enough for noticeable differences that impact on the plot. And I like that his world isn't a terrible dystopia or anything, rather it just has a lot of the kinds of changes you would expect from say 20-40 years down the line - drones all over the place, driverless cars, and implants in the human body, of course.
Now I don't want to oversell it. This isn't a film people are going to be talking about in ten years time, or even next year really. It's not going to change cinema or make us all think profound thoughts that we never before thought about. There's nothing groundbreaking or super-original here.
But that said, it's a solid little B movie that's better than you expect it to be from the trailer. The chip control thing does give it a somewhat different and interesting take on the action, which is to its credit. It's a decent and somewhat plausible depiction of a near future, the acting is fine, the story is pretty serviceable, and all in all it's a decent watch. I recommend it as worth catching if you get the chance; go in with expectations neither low nor high, but... modest.
Maybe a 7/10.

I liked it. I thought it was good. I started a thread on it in Horrors, Thrillers and Suspense. I still haven't been able to figure out how to find a previous thread on a film/TV show I want to comment on. There is a search window you can use. And you can always just scroll through the appropriate genres. And if you cannot find one, just start your own. Often posters will tell you if there is another thread. Nothing wrong with two or three threads on the same topic.

I thought i was just okay. The powers and tech in the movie are cool though, and the final twist in the movie was interesting.
