Theres no way Ireland will be 7 points ahead of Wales by the end of the night, we never have it that easy. We got too many injuries to bother Wales. If we lose though I'll be blaming Johnny Giles for his article about Bale and Ramsey not being that great.

In the Sporting Life it says Keano wants his boys to come out for the win, not settle for a point. With only one guaranteed automatic place up for grabs there could be hell to pay tonight. Sporting Life prediction : Ireland 0 Wales 1 Mine : Score draw (but when it comes to hard cash I don't know whether to actually back both sides to pot, at a very tempting 23/20)

Think this will be my first time attending an Ireland match since the 4-0 defeat to Spain in Euro 2012. Only going because I got a freebie.
Very nervous (as usual) with all those injuries + Brady suspended. Would take a draw now and keep 4 points between us.
COYBIG, etc.

we never have it that easywow...for some reasons I used to think you were English, Fury. Didn't know you were Irish. Yeah we watch the same tv(bbc4 one of me favourites) and follow the same teams(know a few lads that have season tickets) and have the same chavs with 100+ convictions that are in and out of prison but we're very different. Lansdowne Rd(fuck the sponsers) is ok, 4th end looks stupid though. Typical of the FAI not getting it right.

Wales Hennessey; Davies, Chester, Williams (C); Gunter, Allen, Ramsey, Ledley, Taylor; Bale; Robson-Kanu. Subs: Ward, Fon Williams, Collins, Walsh, Macdonald, King, Richards, Edwards, Vokes, Wilson, Bradshaw, Woodburn.
Referee: Niccola Rizzoli (Italy)
Ireland 9/5 Wales 2 Draw 2
Preamble by Nick Miller : "Qualifying campaigns are very often rather tiresome affairs. Each team plays ten games, and more often than not eight of them aren’t especially interesting. The whole thing isn’t especially interesting, really. Which is why we should embrace it when a genuinely interesting game comes along, as this is. Forgetting the ‘local derby’ aspect of it, these are two teams on the up, one perhaps a little more advanced than the other, but one in better form than the other. One has a genuinely world-class player, the other the a more experienced and decorated manager. And there are things at stake in the group. Ireland currently top Group D but Wales, after a slightly iffy start which saw them take just the one win from their opening four games, are still only four points back in third place. The big unknown in this game is what sort of team Ireland will be able to put out, given the number of injuries and suspensions they are dealing with. Of course, that won’t be an unknown for too long. Stick around, this could be a smasher."

Where are the goals coming from in this one then, Fury? I've gone YES on your thread

A cagey first half with not a single shot on goal for either side. Shane Long was almost through on goal after half an hour but the pass was just too short by Kendrick. Bale, to my eyes, is being effectively dealt with on the rare occasions he takes possession. You wouldn't even double your money if you fancied the draw, which is currently odds on at 20/21.

Horrid first half. Apologies for anybody watching. Sorry Stags But I'm just glad Wales are so bad

Wales are not exactly lighting it up are they.
A bit pf a step down in quality. They should be topping this group, there stock team is a big step up from 10 years back - its not just one giggs or bale(today)
the rest are up there like many other european teams and are good enough to play in mid level teams in top divisions.

A double strike by McClean on '74, the second of which hisses just wide of the Welsh post. Can Ireland punish 10 man Wales in the final 15 minutes?

Postamble by Nick Miller : "Well, not a good game, on several levels, for both teams. A point is better than nothing but not great for Wales, plus Bale will be suspended for their next game against group leaders Serbia, who they’re now four points behind. And of course for Ireland, they have to deal with a horrible injury to Seamus Coleman, sustained after that reckless foul by Taylor. Sorry to report that the initial impressions suggest we’re talking Eduardo, Ramsey, Henrik Larsson territory. Would not recommend watching it."
