No. I sadly don't think she is going to return full time but from what I have been reading it does sound like she is going to appear in more episodes than she did last season so we should see Cat more. Wasn't the issue the move to Canada? S1 was in LA wasnt it so close to home? Yes. I believe it was. From what I remember reading it was also the main reason why Lucy Lane and Maxwell Lord were written out of the show with no goodbyes after the first season but unlike the other actors Calista was willing to stay on in a limited capacity and I think she stayed 'cause she likes the show and the character of Cat Grant.

You mean the 1969-1972 Adventure Comics run or the solo 'Supergirl comic books between 1972-1974? I own them and I don't think the show is anything like them either but I am happy you enjoy it. My problem with the current 'Supergirl' TV show is it seems to be too much like Superman from Kara wearing glasses instead of a wig, Kara's geeky Clark Kent like personality, her working as a journalist, her supporting characters, the overuse of Superman villains when there are literally thousands of Supergirl villains to use and the very scene at the end of the first episode between Supergirl and Maxwell Lord which felt like a direct ripoff of the scene between Superman and Lex Luthor at the end of the first episode of 'Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman." The lack of the Horror characters which were even in those runs I mentioned above is also disappointing 'cause the Supergirl comic books have long had Horror type characters which is why the Linda Danvers series by Peter David fit right in when it went full on Horror in some issues.
I feel the writers wanted to make a 'Superman' TV show but Warner Bros wouldn't allow them so they made a 'Superman' show with 'Supergirl' instead. I also don't think they read any Supergirl comic books before they created the show much like the writers of the awful adaption of 'Birds of Prey' who admitted to it after the show was cancelled which is why we only have characters like Reign, Power Girl and the Legion turning up this season. I personally liked Laura Vandervoort's version more. It was much more like the comic book version and even had her win the Ms Sweet Corn Pageant and working as a model like she did in a number of the comic books and it was a shame the spin off from 'Smallville' never happened 'cause they lead Laura to believe it would and she has said in interviews she gave up leading roles for other shows while she was waiting for it to be made.
Maybe the 69? But I swear earlier... Didn't she run as backup? I remember stories involving her when I was reading Spectre in the 66-68 timeframe. I remember Legion. My sister liked Duplicate Girl who had been Triplicate Girl. This puts it in the 1966 frame Hard to say on horror stuff. Marvel's just barely embraced magic. They've been doing Thor as science, but there is magic there as I believe we'll see in Ragnarok. Thor mentioning Earth having magic now is like "now I can use magic" So horror villains in Supergirl likely falls in there for now. We've barely seen Constantine interact with the Arrowverse, forget Spectre, though he was in Constantine Yes. I haven't read all of them but I remember reading one of the old Superman comic books where Supergirl ran as backup and it was right around the time frame you are talking about. She then got upgraded to the 'Adventure Comics' titles and to her own 'Supergirl' series in the 70s. Some other versions of Supergirl appeared in the 60s before Kara debuted including one Jimmy Olsen wished into existence but the first was when Superboy was turned into a girl after ridiculing a female alien for her driving skills and he took on the identity of Claire Kent. The 'Supergirl' we saw in the Helen Slater movie was actually based more on the version of Supergirl that was wished into existence by Jimmy Olsen and the costume is also very similar compared to the costumes Kara was wearing around the time which were often changing and at one point DC let fans draw designs of the costumes they wanted to see Supergirl wear and the ones they liked the most they featured in issues of Supergirl and had her wear a different one every issue.
I have seen Luornu Durgo (Duplicate Girl) and she has gone through a LOT of name changes over the years like uo Damsel, Triad, Una and Duplicate Damsel. My favourite member of the Legion is Saturn Girl and I am hoping we get to see Saturn Girl in 'Supergirl' next season. They had her in 'Smallville' with Cosmic Boy and the Lightning Lad and she was played by Alexz Johnson (who is a singer) but they sadly didn't use them much. I would love to Zatanna in 'Supergirl.' She was one of the other superheroes that appeared in a lot of Supergirl comic books and would fit the show but I am not sure if Warner Bros will let them use her with 'Justice League Dark' coming up which will have Zatanna, Constantine and Swamp Thing among with others. As for Horror characters, DC and Marvel have been rather slow with them on screen. We have new movies of Razor, Spawn, Avageleyne, The Crow, Strike and a TV Show of Nancy In Hell coming up and they are all of the Horror/Superhero genre but they are non DC and Marvel characters. With the 'Supergirl' TV show using Kara I would love it if we got Linda Danvers as Supergirl in the movies. I LOVE Linda and her series was a Horror series and was similar to Buffy the Vampire Slayer in some ways with Linda fighting demons, monsters, werewolves, vampires, witches and even Lilith and Lucifer.

My preferred version of Defenders is the one started by Dr Strange, Hulk & Namor & included Son of Satan. I was collecting comics in the 80s when Marvel purged all the magical beings. They ended Ghost Rider, Tomb of Dracula characters killed or cured? (I liked Hannibal King) Didn't Dr Strange retire or some such? I thought the guy in charge of Marvel found Jesus or something. They've been moving slow I believe because Christians are so vocal. Witness the million mom's vs Lucifer on tv. It is so insane people had no problem in 1963 seeing Thor as an actual pagan god, but scream their asses off now so he has to be an alien. I remember the rotating costumes.

Season 3 seems to be very promising, especially with the arrival of Reign, as the new main villain.

Did anyone watch the season premier last night? The story, what there was of it, was good. That's if you could see the story in between the endless political talking points that were shoved into the show. So will we continue to see Cat as a talking head spouting political talking points that have nothing to do with the show? SMH.

I think I"m going to hold off on watching that episode and I'll record episode 2. if you don't mind posting your thoughts on episode 2 after it airs maybe I'll see how I feel about watching it then.

I remember on the old IMDB Supergirl board that some people said it was a anti-man show and man hating.
But i have still not seen anything in this show that is man hating or anti male.

I remember on the old IMDB Supergirl board that some people said it was a anti-man show and man hating. But i have still not seen anything in this show that is man hating or anti male. In the first season, she did make one negative comment about "old white men" which would make Supergirl ageist, racist, and sexist. But other than that I have not seen anything anti male on this show. My problem is the forcing in of political commentary (regardless of it's validity) that has nothing to do with the show and does not add in any way to the entertainment value. That coupled with weak overall writing is making the show harder to watch.

OK, so I watched episode 2 last night. The good thing is there wasn't any obnoxious political pandering. The plot was ok but the writing was awful. Supergirl had half a dozen chances to take out the villain but didn't. It is sort of a problem with superheroes that are so extremely powerful that it is difficult to create villains that are a threat unless you want Darkseid in every episode.
Also, Supergirl was totally vulnerable to the villains powers until, all of a sudden, she wasn't vulnerable anymore. They tried to cover it with some nonsense about overcoming her fear blah blah blah. It's just weak writing.
I have been a fan of the show from the start and I have even defended it on this and the original IMDB board but the writers really need to put some effort into it.

I'm glad to hear they chilled a little bit with the political stuff. I will keep recording the episodes and see what happens. thanks
