deadline.com/2018/09/superman-henry-cavill-supergirl-warner-bros-1202463120/Read the article The word has been out that Warner Bros. has been mulling a completely different direction with its Superman canon for some time, even considering casting Michael B. Jordan in the role down the road. But at the present moment a Supergirl movie is the studio’s priority as Deadline exclusively broke back in August. Oren Uziel is working on the Supergirl script.

Well that's just stupid. Who'd play John Stewart?

If they go through with this, i’m done with Hollywood and the DC universe. It’d make sense if he were playing “STEEL” and i’m hoping that’s what they mean. Steel could make for an awesome character and movie if done correctly. Don’t make Superman black just to pander to blacks.
I’m so sick of this shit honestly. Nothing against Michael B Jordan, cause I actually really like him as an actor, but he needs to speak up when he knows a role is not made for him. He already got enough flak for playing Johnny Storm in Fant4stic. He does not need this again. He deserves way better.

That'd be a huge mistake. Will Smith was asked in the past and had the common sense to turn it down, you'd hope that Michael B Jordon would do the same especially considering the flack Fantastic Four already got for that reason.
There's plenty of black characters they could cast him as.

I know it's WB but I'd caution against taking this seriously. Even they're probably aware of the whole 'Fan4Stick' fiasco.

That was just a bad movie all around. He probably only signed up because he was working with Josh Trank again.

I'd take that rumor with a grain of red cryptonite really. I bet we will see a black Bond rather than a black Superman.
Not saying it will never happen, it's just very lame and WB do not seem like they are in the mood for taking that kind of risk right now, even considering the string of hits they had recently.
If the want go black they should considering exapanding on Cyborg, Deadshot & Co.

They need to take a few years off and reboot. This has been a disaster so far.
Gal Gadot is the only positive.

Don't flip out folks! It's just talks. The studios have to do this. They have to honor contractual obligations with agents and actors, and they have to be seen as taking all options seriously. Human Torch was not a big deal as he is not the main character of a franchise. I seriously doubt that they would cast a black actor as Superman. They might do an alternate reality version of Superman that way, after all it has been done in the comics. But I wouldn't worry about it too much.
On the other hand, IF, and I mean IF, they did do this, what would be the worst thing that would happen? Michael B Jordan is a very good actor, and if you really stop to think about it there's nothing that would inherently change about the story. Superman could have been born to black Kryptonians, lands on Earth, gets adopted by Kansas farmers (Caucasian OR African Americans), and the rest could all be the same; so on and so forth. No biggie.
If they do cast him with a black actor I would like to see them deal with the race issue in this country on some level, but it's not like it has to be the main focus of the movie. And it doesn't mean that Superman all of the sudden becomes "a black movie". Superman will still be Superman.
It doesn't mean the end of the world.

He's simply not right for the part, and it's not because of his race. He's more of a Tony Stark. Confident, arrogant, charming. That's why he was actually the perfect fit for Johnny Storm, and he was hardly the problem with that film. We need a Clark Kent too. Daniel Kaluuya would be a better choice.
If he was younger I would've chosen Michael Ealy. Now I'd choose Brandon Michael Hall, if DC decides to go that route. But I'd actually prefer they just replace Superman with Steel and retire Superman for a bit. Or maybe throw in some Timothee Chalamet as Superboy lol.
Armie Hammer is a good choice but I want to see him play Booster Gold. Maybe Matthew Goode, Matt Bomer, or Jensen Ackles.

Doubt this will happen. If it does, then WB just murdered its DC franchise.
