Good episode. I still wish the series would focus more on Jimmy/Kim/Mike and less on Lalo/Gus/Nacho. But it's not a big complaint. Can't wait for episode two tonight! It didn't disappoint. I simultaneously want to binge the whole season right now and watch each weeks new episode so I can savor them slowly. The season will be over much too quickly anyway. The knock off Badger and Skinny Pete were a bit too cartoonish if I was pressed to find a flaw in the first 2 eps but Vince Gilligan is so damn talented those characters might end up being sympathetic and complex.

Then watch the replay right afterwards. Anticipation of something you enjoy is a good thing that studies have shown has a positive effect on your life in several ways.

I agree with all of this. But... Remember back in seasons 1-2 when the majority of the episode was about Jimmy? I miss that. Imagine if Jimmy planning and hosting the tent event was the A story of the premiere. The whole tone of the episode would have been different. Instead the tone was set by the Gus/Lalo stuff, which should have been a B story. I mean, maybe if I actually calculated the screen time Jimmy probably had more time than I think, but it didn't feel that way. I still loved every minute of it. But I can't help but want more Saul in these episodes.

It was a pleasant surprise to see Barry Corbin (Urban Cowboy, Lonesome Dove, No Country for Old Men) as the old guy who won't leave his home.
Hank and Steve, too.

The scene with mike and the 5 guys was unrealistic. No way would 4 or 5 guys just shit themselves from one old man like that, they would have been on mike as soon as he got the first guy to the floor.
Im pretty sick of them always pushing mike as a capable badass, we get it already. Then again, what would his character be if not an unlikely badass?

Sulla poelzig spoonyrumbleThoughts on last nights episode? I liked the greater focus on Jimmy. I still think the show is struggling somewhat to replace the conflict between Jimmy and Chuck, but the inevitable Mesa Verde face off should be good. Also, the bowling balls. I was wondering what he would use them for.

I suppose that's what I get for watching it each week instead of waiting for the dvd release. I guess I have to exercise more patience.
I wish they had shown a previous season marathon because it's been a long wait for this season and some events may have slipped my mind.
I don't really understand what's happening with Mike because he's out of character. Does he feel gullty about having to kill Werner? I wonder if Gus or Lalo is having him followed and the follower intervened to rescue him and take him somewhere for recovery.
I also don't understand why Jimmy is wasting his time messing with Chuck unless it's part of a long term plan. At least by the end of the episode they explained what Jimmy did with the bowling balls.

Mike is feeling guilty about Werner, yes. It's the first time he has ever done anything like that. If you recall back in season two he refused to kill Hector and Tuco. His arc is very subtle and probably shouldn't be stretched over six seasons. They are just kind of filling time until he finally embraces his life as a hired hit man. Wait... Chuck? You mean Howard?

Ha! Yeah, I meant Howard. Thanks for the reminder about Mike. I had forgotten about season 2.
I remember this season was ready to air last year and AMC delayed it because they didn't want it to conflict with the new season of The Walking Dead. That seems like a flimsy excuse to me. If they're gonna do things like that, I need refreshers.

I was dissapointed we got no Gene stuff as im curious to see how he deals with it himself.Im kinda confused as to why he trashed Howards car, I get that they were frenemys and all, but i actually thought Howards gesture of a job offer was nice, it would have been enough for me to get over it all, at least. I think Jimmy may be jel that Howard was able to pick himself up after chucks death and get back on track, while Jimmy himself is still struggling, I dunno. where do you think Mike is? My guess is he is with Gus's doctor from breaking bad, we know gus likes to keep tabs on people so Viktor or Tyrus was prolly following mike, saved him after the stabbing and all.

It is still running alongside the walking dead tho, it was delayed because the team were working on El Camino

Okay, that makes more sense. Thanks.

I watch it but I don’t binge it and I’m one episode behind.
It’s as good as it’s always been.

I think you're right about Howard. Jimmy saw that Namaste liscense plate and it vexed him how Howard is now back to normal and thriving at HHM even though he was a huge factor in everything that went wrong before. Although it is a bit puzzling because Jimmy never seemed to feel any guilt about Chuck. So it may also be that he finds it insulting that after all this time and everything he has lost Howard is now willing to give him what he originally wanted.
