I should have started the BR sooner...."I could a been a contender" You shoulda looked out for me a little better, Matt -- so I wouldn't have to be late with the right answers.

I feel you pain! My iPad went totally black with a spinning circle in the middle. Wouldn't let me go anywhere. Shutting off and coming back on was the only option. The board can't seem to handle intense traffic, and having a slow ,eats of playing just makes it worse.

I'm not the most computer savvy person in the world, so I never know if it's the computer or the site, though it's the site, I suspect - especially based upon your experience. Well, anyway, it was a great game despite our sufferings. Wowzy though, it is annoying! I don't like the bonus rounds either, Spider. The games have become so fast and frantic, and the BRs are even more so. I liked the slower-paced games.

Well, we could easily convert to a slower pace:
-- less items (only 10 or 15 at most) -- no limit on posts (forget the three consecutives) -- no limit on items in each post (put in as many as you know) -- limit number of players (just the first three or five who sign in, no more) -- QM could just post the quiz and come back a few hours or a day later -- eliminate scoring (just post 'Solved') -- pass on the greeting to each player (obviously a waste of time) -- no bonus round (just makes players unhappy) -- drop the commentary (nobody reads it anyway) -- no songs or quotes -- no jokes
Yep -- that ought to make it better

Yep -- that ought to make it better But these wouldn't be GARTH GAMES any more, at least not the ones I love. 🤧

I would prefer no Bonus Roumds, as waiting for the page to refresh takes forever on the old iPad.
Just having to deal with not being allowed to have multiple pages open, having to switch keyboards to type numbers and having to type one-fingered, as well as limited search options is enough of a slow-down.

06. Empire of the Sun Christian Bale/Steven Spielberg I finally caught up to welcomed newcomer Rufus this one is very much correct -- but unfortunately nabbed earlier Lots of players, so many answers going as fast as I can but hoping you will stick around These players are quick. Too bad I had only about 1/2 hours or so to play before stepping out. It was fun though. Look forward to your next game.

Matt-- Thanks for this wonderful trip through the directors. Actually, I think that there were, 20 Directors who won 2 or more Oscars for Direction:
4 John Ford 3 Frank Capra 3 William Wyler 2 Frank Borzage 2 Clint Eastwood 2 Miloš Forman 2 Alejandro G. Iñárritu (how does one pronounce that last name--In-ya-A-rrr-itu?) 2 Elia Kazan 2 David Lean 2 Ang Lee 2 Frank Lloyd 2 Joseph L. Mankiewicz 2 Leo McCarey 2 Lewis Milestone 2 Steven Spielberg 2 George Stevens 2 Oliver Stone 2 Billy Wilder 2 Robert Wise 2 Fred Zinnemann Since you had done the other Directors in previous games, you have "played out" all of the 20 multiple directors, almost...
The ones in red (above) are the ones you used in this (DOUBLE DUTCH DIRECTORS) game. But, here is a quote, from you, about the others you had already used previously (with multiple Oscar directors highlighted): But, what about David Lean, Ang Lee, and Alejandro G. Iñárritu? (This is just out of interest, since you never claimed you would do all of the multiple Oscar-winning directors)
In any case, it has been a wonder trip as a way to go through some great directors. Thanks, it's been fun to play, even though I am not the speediest poster in these games....

Kijii -- thanks for assembling the list.
-- As noted in the instructions, Lee and Lean missed the cut as I was unable to find the minimum of five performers to link them with (same with Inarritu).
-- As you noted, earlier quizzes already had used double winners Stevens, McCarey, Wilder, etc.
-- Ford, Capra and Wyler, in addition to being in the very first contest, were multiple (3 or 4) winners.
-- Also, the theme revolved the number NINE and its variants (ninth quiz, nine directors, 90 performers).

Whoops, There I go again not reading your opening note--I always want to get on with the game (sometimes failing to read the instructions right). Somehow, I feel like we had played the " Lean game" even though we didn't. I guess his movies just naturally come up in other games. Also, of interest, about directors, there have only been three back-to-back Oscar Winning directors: John Ford -- Joseph L. Mankiewicz -- Alejandro G. Iñárritu Humm..so you had to get a minimum of 5 performers for each director. I don't think a lot of us realize how many things you to in constructing a game. ...Well, actually we do, But on the final solution OP does each director get five actors? 9 X 5=45. but there were 90 answers and 45 X 2 = 90??? Are there an equal number of solution answers for each director?

******************************************************************************************
-- Five was the minimum number of linking performers for any director to be included in the contest
-- In the listed Director Countdown section (deleted as discovered and therefore no longer available) the number of performers per filmmaker was posted
-- In the final game, for example:
05: Frank Lloyd and Milos Forman 08: Frank Borzage 09: Clint Eastwood and Elia Kazan 12: Fred Zinnemann 13: Robert Wise 14: Steven Spielberg 15: Oliver Stone _____________________
90 Performers
