Do you use it in your cooking? If so, on what dishes and how much do you use? There seems to be a lot of conflicting opinions on the internet on what the ideal ratio of MSG to salt should be.
I recently bought 1lb of Aji-No-Moto MSG and have been experimenting it on a few differen foods. It seems to work quite well with mashed potatoes.
I have yet to use it in a big way though, mainly just sprinkling it on post cook. I wonder how well it will go with a pan seared steak, which is my speciality and favorite things to cook. I' going to make myself a burger today so I will try put some into the patty mix and see how it goes.

MSG sucks...it causes high blood pressure in people prone to it. It is used widely in Asian cooking, and it is no wonder that "Panda Express" advertises that the chain does NOT use MSG.

Many Asian restaurants, here, make it very clear that they do not use MSG. My guess is that those who don't post that assurance on the door, or menu, are severely limiting their clientele. I, certainly, would ask before being seated.

I avoided it for a while for headache reasons. Now I avoid it as just another salt, and I mostly avoid salt. But I don't think it's any worse than salt.

All I know about it is that it is supposed to be bad for you. I have never bought it but it wouldn't necessarily stop me from eating something that contained it.

MSG sucks...it causes high blood pressure in people prone to it. It is used widely in Asian cooking, Don't be stupid. Don't believe everything you read. Have you even tried it? Because they'll make more money if they get the ignorant uneducated MSG haters like you to buy their food as well.

It's a shame about that. It's still 2018 and people are still fooled by the MSG hate. Ask what?

MSG would cause headaches with my Mother when she went to the local Chinese Restaurant in the 80's. She thought it was the red wine at first, until she was informed from another source about the artificial flavor enhancers in the food. If you have to use MSG, then you can't cook. What the hell are you talking about? Cooking with an ingredient means you can't cook? That makes no sense. Indeed. They make more money that way, so they don't scare off the hypochondriacs like you mother away.

A very overrated arena. It's famous because of where it is--in the heart of New York City, and because it's hosted so many legendary events, but as an arena, it's not that great. The amenities are just average at best, it has an unusual look but it's not that aesthetically attractive, and there are plenty of seats with bad or even partially obstructed views for some events. It could also be easier to get into and out of, even ignoring the problems of getting into and out of (midtown) Manhattan if you're not living or staying nearby.

I avoided it for a while for headache reasons. Another hypochondriac? Why would you avoid salt? Salt is amazing and improves food. Then why badmouth it and make unfounded claims that it gave you headaches?

All I know about it is that it is supposed to be bad for you. Don't believe everything you hear. The MSG hate I think stems back to the 80s or something and was a result of racism/xenophobia against Chinese food. Try some, it's good.

I avoided it for a while for headache reasons. Another hypochondriac? Maybe. We're talking 25 years ago. Wasn't headaches, more just a flush. Sort of like a niacin reaction. Why would you avoid salt? Salt is amazing and improves food. It's called "high blood pressure" and doctor's orders. Look it up.Then why badmouth it and make unfounded claims that it gave you headaches? Speaking of flushes, go eat a turd. Your company make the stuff, or something?

...the OP is an ignorant MSG bigot. Please, by all means, dump MSG on everything you cook or eat raw. You will quickly end up looking like your avatar...

just because some people don't react adversely to MSG does not mean that no-one does. Some restaurants used it to excess and customers sensitive (allergic) to it had bad reactions. some people break out in hives from eating strawberries .. ditto peanuts ditto just about everything edible.
I had an aunt who insisted that everyone could eat strawberries because she could ! She put them in fruit salad that she brought to family gatherings even though she had been asked to leave them out or bring them in a separate dish for those who could eat them.

One of my friends said to me that some restaurants still use MSG because it definitely improves the taste (even some of those restaurants that claim not to use it).

Aj_JuneRestaurants, especially buffet type establishments, now have signs saying that peanuts have been used in some dishes and for customers with allergies to be alert. I suppose that is to "cover them" if someone moves the serving spoon from the Peanut chicken to the Kung-pao Dish. "We Warned Ya-- There's Peanuts in the Building ! "
