The problem with the Lists and Recommendations board, is that hardly anyone seems interested in using it..the last post there was 8 days ago.
So, shifting a post there is almost like deleting it. An odd apathy, when you consider the level of list addiction on the internet.

An odd apathy, when you consider the level of list addiction on the internet. That's why this OP always encourages essays, images and comments

Tootsie is one of my all time, over and over, favorites on so many levels. Hoffman's BEST performance (imo) in a career of good to really REALLY good / great performances (even in roles and films I do not care for) BUT Much of Tootsie seems to be a comical view of Hoffman as he might really be ~ as an actor who needs to be inspired / motivated. Michael Dorsey: Are you saying that nobody in New York will work with me?
George Fields: No, no, that's too limited... nobody in Hollywood wants to work with you either. I can't even set you up for a commercial. You played a *tomato* for 30 seconds - they went a half a day over schedule because you wouldn't sit down.
Michael Dorsey: Of course. It was illogical.
George Fields: YOU WERE A TOMATO. A tomato doesn't have logic. A tomato can't move.
Michael Dorsey: That's what I said. So if he can't move, how's he gonna sit down, George? I was a stand-up tomato: a juicy, sexy, beefsteak tomato. Nobody does vegetables like me. I did an evening of vegetables off-Broadway. I did the best tomato, the best cucumber... I did an endive salad that knocked the critics on their ass.
Casting. Performances. Story. Characters … all A+ Quote Link Image Link Link Link

Simon and Laura (1955) UK Directed by Muriel Box. The wonderfully entertaining film was adapted from a popular play. Satirising the early days of BBC Television, the film focuses on an argumentative acting couple; Simon (Peter Finch) and Laura (Kay Kendall) Foster. Married for over 20 years their life together has devolved into is one of constant bickering at each other. However they are chosen to play a faux-harmonious version of 'themselves' in a daily soap opera filmed in their own home... An established theatrical and character actor Peter Finch stars in his first headline lead role in a British film. The previous year he had signed a seven-year contract with the Rank Organisation worth a generous £87,500 to make one film a year for them. The studio executives stated at the time , "We are going to build Peter into a major British star"...
