I'll let you make that call when you I make the switch. I'll be sad to see it go if it does. As for retiring at number ten, that was always the plan. Which is why I am partially loathe to move on from Thanos, but a plan is a plan. Famous last words. You're sucked in like the rest of us. Politics board is like hotel California. I'm trying to take a break right now, but still end up lurking. While you're right that the Politics board is like Hotel California--in that you can never leave--it is possible, also as the song indicates, to check out any time you like. I'm back on IMDb v2.0 after a whole week away. How did I manage that? I left the entire site, so I wouldn't be tempted even to lurk around Politics.

Yeah...
It caught my eye when I first saw it.
Particularly the moving "framework".

It's admittedly "cheating" to pick me because I can do whatever with an avatar but I think it's a good balance of color which is generally what I look for in design. I would pick @winterssuicide myself; I think his avatar is even better aesthetically. j/s

2. I can't say I'm a fan of it.
Perhaps if I watched more Marvel superhero films...

That's just how I am. I go gangbusters on something I enjoy for a short time period and then I put it away and don't ever (or rarely) do it again. Because I have found something new to obsess over. But your warning is duly noted and I will credit you if you end up being right. In the meantime, I'm only on number four, so there's a lot of posting left in me.

Are you following the - apparent - example set down by Quentin Tarantino?
I wish I could say that were true. It's nothing quite that remarkable. I started on this site with my favorite villain and I will end up on my 10th favorite villain. A villain to the end. Silly, I know, but it's what was always in my head and who am I to argue with me?

How do you know when to change your avatar?
Is it passage of time, the number of posts you've made, random urges, or some other more specific methodology?

In order of my preference, but as to time, there is no set time for each. I used Keyser Soze for around seven months maybe. When I switched to Henry Winter, I only carried that one for a couple months. I was Darth Plagueis the longest, at around 9 months or so. But now that I am getting deeper into my list, I plan to use the remaining ones less than six months each, and in some cases, it may only be a couple months.

Then we can say goodbye properly before you leave.

Nah. I'm on number four. There will only be six more. But I'll give you another hint as to the last one on the list. He said this: (regarding the Bible) "Well I can't understand none of it. This one begat that one and that one begat this one, and lo and behold someone says some shit to someone else - just how retarded are you?"

Although it also sounds like something that Richard Dawkins might say...

@winterssuicide are you the guy who was drawing all those superhero pictures to give as gifts to lucky relatives ? I wish. I am terrible at drawing, painting, etc. Like, 0/10. Seriously, if we had a contest with every member on the board to recreate your avatar from scratch using nothing but a pencil, I would be the favorite to finish dead last. Even my tic tac toe and hangman drawings are shaky.

@winterssuicide I cannot remember the name of the artist .. .he would draw these terrific group pictures of the Supers and then ask which version the group preferred. They were really professional and terrific. ! Shaky can also be called modern and interpretive !

I actually created a comic book concept once with a team of diverse, Detroit-based super heroes and an arch villain, with back stories for each character and ideas for the first six issues. I had a friend who was a fairly decent artist and he drew the first character illustrations. I still have the drawings somewhere. People who can draw that kind of stuff are awesome.

@winterssuicide RE: art for the multi-thumbed (like me ) you might look in the kids section in the library … there is a series of drawing books that show how to draw various and sundry things .. being for kids they are pretty basic and can get satisfactory results just following the steps. Have seen some on dinosaurs and movie minsters so there just might be a Supers one too. If just for the fun of it, and for yourself, they don't have to be perfect !

We tried all that. I was the type of student who got all As and Bs through school (more As than Bs). I never got an E (or F, depending on the system). I got a handful of Cs, all in Penmanship, again, due to my terrible ability to draw a straight line or a basic curve well and the only D I ever got in my life was Art class. EDIT: and if you could see the shit I produced in that class, the teacher was taking my previous academic record into account and was being kind by giving me the D. Because the work was definitely failure-quality.
