A group of all white people. and the fact that it's 3 Guys and 3 girls and one of those guys isn't black or one of those women isnt Asian, it just would never happen today and if it did it would be scorned like it was the devil.

Even at the time, that was brought up reasonably regularly.

Even at the time, that was brought up reasonably regularly. And if it was set in Nampa, Idaho, it wouldn't have. I've been to NY a few times. Try finding a group of six friends who are all white.

Probably correct. I wasn't questioning the legitimacy of the complaint, just stating that it wasn't just something that would happen now. Whether or not artists have a responsibility to reflect "the real world" is another discussion.

All things considered, the Phoebe character would mostly likely be singled out to have been non-white. Followed by Joey, and maybe Chandler.

That apartment would cost a fortune, even if all six of them moved in together!

It does seem far fetched, but maybe a little less if you consider it's not like they were all supposed to be random people who met each other in NYC. Ross and Monica are siblings and Rachael is their high school friend and they grew up in a mostly white community in the first place. And weren't Chandler and Ross college roommates?

I don't live in New York but I live in a city that is probably just as multicultural, and I don't think it is at all far-fetched that a group of six friends would all be white. My friends are all white, and that's not because of any racism from my part. In any case, I am sure the other poster was referring to it being unlikely that a present-day TV show would have an all-white cast and not to real life.

I thought it seemed pretty normal. And, it was a show for white people. If it was a 70's or 80's show there would be more of a mixed (at least black/white makeup). Friends came out right around the time they started putting out exclusively black shows. So, that's where all of the black characters went - to black shows where they hung out with other black characters. 70's and 80's shows were way more integrated.

My guess is that 99% of the shows made before 2018 would not fly today.

All things considered, the Phoebe character would mostly likely be singled out to have been non-white. Followed by Joey, and maybe Chandler. They would have to have given her some kind of talent then because I don't think a ditzy non white chick would go down too well. Joey would work as a black guy because Joey was (supposedly) a good looking pick up artist. Chandler is a bit neurotic I would say Asian but again that would be Non PC. All the characters are actually very flawed so in a way you can only do it with White characters. You would have to make the females all near perfect as well now though. " Basically what you would end up with is The Big Bang Theory.
