Miko enjoying the cat tree. Just look at her, ascending to new heights! What a fine kitty! My cat tree used to be new and pretty like that... but my kitties have had so much fun ripping it up and leaping from here to there, it's paid for itself in entertainment value many times over!

The cat tree arrived and is assembled. At first, Miko was more interested in the bracket holding the scratching board to the tree, but now she's found the house section, and she's settled in. Andrew is withholding judgment for the moment. No, Andrew is being a gentleman and letting the lady go first!

Miko has made sufficient progress that since December 19th, she's no longer confined to her room at night.
The first couple nights she spent several minutes exploring the bedroom after Catman and Catwoman went to bed (even though she has explored it thoroughly in the daytime). And she still seems to think she should race down the stairs to her room when Catman starts getting ready for bed. When Catman does not follow, she comes part way back up and calls to him as if asking whether he's forgotten something important.
She has settled on the sofa where Catman and she sit during the day as her go-to spot for the night. A few times, however, she has even jumped up on the bed to lie down on Catwoman. This makes Catwoman happy since that was one of Xander's favorite places to spend the night. But she usually gets tired of being jostled around by Catwoman's RLS after a while and goes back out to the sofa.
Andrew is fine with the new arrangement except for the fact he can't grab a snack during the night like he's used to. Unfortunately, Miko thinks that if there is food in a bowl, it must be eaten immediately. But he is adjusting well, waiting until Catman needs to get up before asking to eat. Curiously, Miko ignores this middle of the night snacking.
Miko has really made a place for herself in the Cat household.

My parents recently adopted a 7 month old. Their experiences have been very similar. I'm their "Catman" (having had experience with multiple cats over the years while this is their first) and I've been stopping by daily to visit with her and play.

I'm so glad, Catman, that Miko has such a wonderful forever home, and that you and Catwoman have Miko to love along with Andrew. I don't know what I would do without my sweet kitties; they are my family!

Miko's new favorite toys: The piece of cardboard from the wall calendar and one of Catman's broken hair bands. Isn't it great when they find trash to play with and ignore the cat toys you bought for them? My puppy loves the cardboard rolls at the center of toilet paper, and the brown paper bags the stores put your booze in, tied into a knot. The cats like anything that can be pushed off a counter top or table. Bottle tops, fabric napkins, salt and pepper shakers, magazines... and especially they like pushing stuff off to see if the puppy will tear it up! I think they are doing a scientific experiment, because they never push off the same object twice. These cats today...
