These souls, who for whatever reason are not at rest, are also not aware that they have passed on. They're not part of consciousness as we know it. They linger in a perpetual dream state, a nightmare from which they can not awake.

I think it is sadly where society is right now. Every issue imaginable has a line drawn through it. We identify with one side of that line or the other, and we revel in confirming our biases with all on our side while contesting those on the other.
I hope the next stage of "civilization" is better than this.

Thats simply the human race. We are born to be outraged at everything. Are we though? I'm not so sure. I don't think the level of outrage over every single thing was the same in decades or centuries past. I think social media, particularly Twitter, has exploded it.

...a relatively new phenomenon are these thins called "rage rooms" where you pay some money to go inside a room with a bat or a hammer and smash stuff. These are designed for idiots.
IMHO, I think that there are just too many people living today. 100 years ago, there were fewer than 2 billion people. Today, there are 7 billion+. That drastically increases the number of nutbags walking the earth.

Its two pronged:
1) The internet gave everyone a voice! We can let out our outrage so that everyone can hear it all at once, instead of just small handful of people. We can let out our outrage without anyone getting back in our faces, because we're safe at home at a computer. We can call anyone we want whatever we want because no one is going to yell back at us or punch us upside the head.
From the safety of our computers we can call Dwayne The Rock Johnson a piece of shit because Dwayne The Rock Johnson doesn't know where we live and so cant come get us to crush us. We would NEVER say anything like that to his face though!
2) Once we let out our outrage out we find that there other people who agree with our particular brand of outrage, and that emboldens us! You can find someone to agree to just about anything; even about the craziest shit ever! Suddenly we become more outraged because now there are others telling us that we are right! Some people even get voted into the presidency this way.
Its a vicious cycle that feeds on itself. As for the outrage itself? It was always there. We just didn't have a platform to let it all out. No we do.
...The internet... the damned internet...
